I'm amazed that not 1 person from England has posted yet.....we get robbed everytime we fill up our cars!
Its about 95p a litre (about $1.75) , but varies all over the place. NEVER fill up at a motorway services station, some of them are over £1.10!!
The thing that drives me mad is it's about 70-80% TAX!!

Drives me mad!
You guys have a fantastic transit system though... don't you? Public transportation systems are so much better in England and Europe....Quote:

Maybe you should start a poll taking a vote on what the new fuel should be. Electricity, used cooking oil, nuclear power, toothpaste backwash... :D
If it works, then I vote for itQuote:

You may be onto something...
Come on guys... You say your public transportation system are not good or great?! Not sure about US, but I've heard only good things about the one in England and specially London. Come to see the Romanian one. If you want I'll take some pictures in the street train/tramway (not sure what is the correct English term) I am using each day to go to work.. We are like fish in tin cans... If you are lucky you get in a 30 years old buses or tranways brought from Germany. If you aren't then you get in a 30 years old Romanian made bus or tramway... ;)Quote:

Yeah, it's OK really - there are definitely places a lot worse off....we also get the 'sardines' effect at times, just too many people trying to pack onto trains during rush hour..! We like moaning about public transport though, it's one of our favourite things to complain about..!
Pretty much yes. Was a bit quieter for a few days, then back to business as normal. Everyone's still extra suspicious, lots of suspect package alerts (there have been over 100 unattended bags in the last week! how could you forget & leave your bag on a train after all thats happened?!).Quote:

Just gotta get on with it though...
Well, that kind of knowledge would prove helpful indeed.Quote:

As far as going into NYC, it can get ugly. The city is an island afterall. So each of the bridges, tunnels and rail lines is a bottle neck. You can only get so many trains from the suburbs into the city at any given time and riding a buss for an hour and a half - with transfers and such really sucks. I don't do this commute often, a few times a year - and am very glad that I don't have to do it every day like some of my friends.
Yep, petrol is insanely expensive here in UK. 95p a litre's a bit high though : it's 89p a litre at my local Tesco.
You've also got to bear in mind that in the UK we have to pay road tax once a year, about £180, and since it's illegal to drive without car insurance our car insurance is extremely expensive too (I've got a 5 year old Honda Civic, with full 5 years no claims and my insurance is still £700 a year !).
Trains are also extremely expensive too... a return ticket from Luton to London (about 40 miles) if you travel before 9.30am is about £30. That's because the government doesn't subsidise the railways like the rest of Europe does.
Yep we get fleeced on transport here bigtime.
Mind you the price of sofas is falling apparently... oh goody !
As for traffic jams, we have a road called the M25 which is this big circle around London. And this is little better than a car park for most of the time.
