Does anyone know of this issue or an existence of a solution... ?
Well, to me a leak would be when memory isn't released once the app terminates. I'm not very familiar with Java, but in the bit that I've done I don't recall much for cleanup code if any. I guess the garbage collection is relied upon for that. Once loaded, classes stay in memory until the app terminates, yes?
I do have a few extensions, but not many. Resource usage is always pretty low whenever I've checked, but I can't say I've looked after it's been running for many, many hours, or with tons of tabs open.
Oh, and SpellBound is soooo handy! I couldn't get Aspell to work though. The spell checking algorithm is poor IMHO, but the inline checking is perfect for pointing out the typos.
Re: Cool Firefox plugins...
I have installed Firefox 2.0 and find it faster than the previous version I had - 1.5.x.
I must inform that "SwitchProxy" if installed with a previous version wont work with 2.0 (in fact, you will be informed at install time that SwtichProxy wont be available for use).
The replacement addon would be FoxyProxy:

Do you have the IE Tab plug-in for FireFox yet ???
Re: Cool Firefox plugins...
BTW, I just found out that CTRL + Click will open a link (or a bookmark) in a new Tab, while SHIFT + Click will open the same in the new window... :)

Yeah, I've been using the Ctrl+Click since one of the first Tabbed versions of Netscape, but I don't recall the Shift-Click feature being there, and hadn't tried till just now - thanks for that :)
Any notable new features in 2.0? I think I read that inline spell checking was going to be standard so an add-in/plugin wouldn't be needed.
Re: Cool Firefox plugins...
Yes, inline spell check is standard. Which is in general good - but, can become a pain if you communicate in more than one language.
For example: I am using the Quick Post window now, and my words are all automatically checked for spelling errors. When I have to write an email in German, I have to always switch this feature off first.
In general, I would recommend FF 2.0... No problems so far. :)
Re: Cool Firefox plugins...
AFAIK you can install other language dictionaries. Or was that feature removed?
<EDIT>
I just noticed your link to firefox was censored :ehh:
Re: Cool Firefox plugins...
According to the FF 2.0 known issues list:

Here is an interesting article on the future of Firefox (a sneak preview) -

Re: Cool Firefox plugins...
Sid,
Have you tried the IE Plugin for Firefox ??
I installed it and you can even do Windows Updates in Firefox
if you have the IE Tab plugin...works good if you find a site
that doesn't like FF, just tell FF to open the page in a IE Tab
and poof..all is great.

Yes, I did and I find IE Tab really useful. :)
I work with many web-pages that are (only) IE compatible. With IE tab installed, I must admit that I've never needed to see IE in the last year... :D

I wonder what that means for security? Sounds to me like everything from Javascript on down would be just as it is for the browser itself, not to mention ActiveX.
I doubt I'll ever use that plugin. If I come across a site that doesn't work in FF, I just go elsewhere, or try Opera if desperate enough. I don't even have msie installed :D

Oh, you see - Microsoft Internet Explorer is just a thin wrapper client of mshtml.dll. In other words, Opera and Firefox IE Tab are also similar clients of mshtml.dll the way IE is.
(So, if one is desperate enough to try Opera, one can as well use IE Tab or IE - it is just the same - Firefox IE Tab or Opera or IE is 100% MSIE rendering.)

IE is not really missing... All of IE rendering you see is in mshtml.dll (and most probably, you do have this file - the heart and soul of IE, even if you dont have IE EXE).
;)

Not to drag the thread off-topic...
I've not dug in deep on the security issues, but do you happen to know what handles the Javascript and plugins in msie?
Are there really any good sites worth visiting which can't be viewed in FF? I don't recall the last time I saw one of those. Most decent web developers know better than that.
