I think this thread is rather interesting. In General Discussion, it's its place. And it shows that programmers can be interested in other things than coding!
Americans have never been very interested in languages, since everybody is able to learn english. We can also discuss whereas this is laziness or lack of curiosity. But I think this thread might give some of them the interest in them (languages).
Why stop a little bit of culture intruding a "nerds" site!!??!!

but the fact is that I get bored after 2 or 3 pages about swedish words and the likes, just want to say that more people will came here to vote, and it is a forum, not a WebChat (http://www.vbcodelibrary.co.uk/modul...hat&file=index), the discussion is starting to be limited to only few people, don't think I want to blame you!, As I said, you're right, it is in fact interesting but... As to closing this thread, it is in the general discussion area and not in one of the more focused technical sections, plus it is interesting. As such, I'm okay with it continuing on. I don't, however, want to have to add all 192 countries to the list (or however, many you decide there should be).

I means I want more people to integrate the discussion. When I read that kind of thread where I did not post, I tend to don't know if I can post or not. In that case, I just don't want it become a closed discussion between few members.

I also sent this as private message to Jeff, but maybe it is wise to let other people see that I intend no agression, apart from my plan for world domination ofcourse. :D :p It surprises me that very few people object to this plan. I did get requests though to save Canada and Spain. I think I'll just have to nuke Cuba then. I'm not sure about trading Sweden from Spain, I'm programming partly for a Swedish company, they are very nice people.:)

Breuvage actually exists in "Metropolitan" french too. But not so much used :)
Quebec people tend to use the french word the closest to the english one. That's sounds fun for us :)
About the hot-dog, I think someone did not understand that translating it into french is funny. Quebec people did not invent the hot-dog. They did invent the poutine, I think! did it really need to be invented? ;-)

Well, there's Jase Jennings, but.......aye~! That guy is too busy eating his plate of chicken chop with peas and green beans, with dices of carrots, as well as a bunch of bread, really hot and delicious soup, french fries and above all, the piece of large, tender chicken chop. :)
There's several programmers here from China, but they don't seem to be too interested in discussions other than serious programming stuff and questions. Hmmm.......Brad.......maybe we can build some rapport with these guys? One good way is that you get Internet.com to sponsor us with 100 tickets and free hotel accomodation, as well as a stack of US$1200 notes to spend on, and the 100 most active posters in Codeguru.com will have these tickets.(of course, my place is already secured! :p)
As a result, we get to learn things from them, see the country, climb the Great Wall, surf the restaurants and more. In return, this 100 of us wouldn't mind wearing t-shirts that says, "Internet.com rules!!!" or "Codeguru ROCKS!!!", or even, "The Lord is Brad Jones!!!"
Or maybe, we could go to Brazil instead; there's not too many programmers there and the 100 of us can turn some of them into programers.(C++ Programmers, not others)
It's something like missionaries going from country to country, trying to convert the citizens there from a certain religion to a certain religion.
The last thing is that it would be good if free tours would be organised so that budding programmers like us can make a group trip to the Microsoft HQ in Redmond, Washington. This way, we can move around the HQ, talk to those programmers and distract them, try to get a glimpse of the code, and maybe, Microsoft would give us a set of free GUI ActiveX controls each as a souvenir.

Mind you, the programmers at Microsoft are among the best in the world!
The reason why Microsoft produces buggy programs is cos' they bite off more than they can chew. In the case of Microsoft, they're just like a hungry dog who's trying to take down and kill a Carcharodontosaurus, one of the largest of all carnivorous dinosaurs(larger than the T-rex), and eat it.
It's impossible.
If they settle for simpler programs that're smaller size instead, I wouldn't be suprised if there ain't a single bug. Then, we real men will all be drinking beer and toasting to 'em, hard and strong and large.(the li'l gurls wouldn't understand what I'm saying) :D:)

Can't we replace Austria, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxmbourgh, Spain and UK with the European Union. This way, we are already sure of 31 votes, plus a transfer of me from others is 32 votes minimum. This would have many advantages:
1. The US wouldn't look all powerful anymore.
2. European countries couldn't be neglected any more.
3. I think small countries like Luxembourgh and Iceland shouldn't be mentioned, there are a lot of countries with more inhabitants.
4. There would be room for new countries. I suggest Pakistan and Southeast-Asia (Indonesia,Malasya,Birma,Vietnam,I've seen people from there already).

In strict sense you're right. But I'm in a good mood (my birthday is finally over), Iceland can be considered part of EU as far as I'm concerned, Malta too. :) Otherwise the poor guys are stuck all alone on their icy, vulcanic island with nothing else to do than to catch fish.

As for China and India:
China exports manufactured objects, toys, ...
India exports doctors and computer programmer
It seems to be kind of an industry to produce many computer programmer in India, that's why you have a lot of them, and not only in India.
Here in Ireland, when I meet an Indian in another plave than an Indian restaurant, if I ask him if he is doctor, he answers me either "Yes" or "No, I am computer programmer". And I believe it is almost the same in most other countries.
I am sure if you go to a forum about manufactured toys and other objects, you'll find much more Chineses than Indians :p

And here, in Singapore....., whenever I see Indians that don't look like local Indians, and Indians who wears long pants and long sleeves, I would say to myself, "Hmmm.....must be a programmer from India".
Usually, these guys have a kid or two, and they have a wife walking behind them. Too typical, actually. But no offence, though! They're actually very nice people. :)
Maybe you guys would be interested to know that there's lots and lots of Indians living in Singapore. They're the local Indians, and have their roots since Singapore was founded in the 1800s.
These guys, however, ain't that interested in programming, for some reason! I think it's cos' India probably has some programmer culture or something. :)

The answer, I believe, is that Indians are talented at Mathematics.
Look at the case in Singapore. Although the local Indians here generally ain't programmers, they're top experts at Mathematics if they want. It's hard for them to find any real challengers in that field.
A newspaper article once said that this is mainly cos' in India, a long time ago, there wasn't any calculators, and Indians there used their brains to do mental calculations, and their form of counting somehow relates to the binary system. This strengthens the power of the mind and brain, and makes them better programmers and more talented Mathematicians as a result.
As time passes, Inheritance takes place, and the child inherits from their ancestors. Now, students........this is called Inheritance in the C++ programming language.

I love he quebecois language. You only have to know english and translate it word for word in french. :) I imagine automatic translators on the web speak quebecois ;)
