I didn't intend to post that twice. It is just because the answer is getting through so slow and without confirmation that it has been posted that I stopped it and restarted in order to avoid a timeout or something.
Yeah I thought so. But that's right seemed like an apropriate answer to this mixup.
I know that when the progress bar on the bottom of my explorer has reached the half then everything is sent and now you have to receive. So i often stop the explorer after that not to lose time and I have never had problems.
An explorer is captured by cannibals. They let him the choice about the recipe :eek:
He has to tell something. If this is true, he will be boiled, if this is false, he will be grilled. :D
How can he survive?
This is an easy one. But once again I didn't had time to look for a tough one :(
Just one question not related with the quiz... Please, can somebody tell me what does LOL mean?. I've seen it in many, many posts, and each time it appears I go crazy trying to imagine its meaning... :confused: :D

Anyway, SeventhStar, I think you're right about Elrond's question. ;) :)
"Laughing Out Loud" gave around 30400 while "Lots Of Laughs" gave around 2050. So it appears to have more than one meaning, as summed up here. For example, if Xeon would say it, it would stand for Loser On Line (although he would think it stands for Lover On Line :D), and if I would say it, it would stand for Lucifer On Line. :D
About the answer, I think the explorer will have to jump out his boiling pot or grill and kill the cannibals, as I don't think they are civilised enough - their cannibals for christ sake - to let him get away with that trick answer. In order to get to the civilised world, which may be quite far as cannibals are not easily found, he might also boil/grill some of the killed cannibals in order to survive the long trip. :D :p Correct? ;)

I wasn't able to access Codeguru. Anyway, my solution is in the attached file, it's very bad because I had to paint this using Kodak Imaging.
The square is the hole in between the pieces. :)

I don't know if seventhstar last question is valid as there are much more than two answers. Actually, I found about 7 different possible squares. And I don't even talk about different positions for the addition peace of paper. I really talk about 7 different positions for the square.

You might have guessed from the postings today that the CodeGuru site has been having a bad hair day and everyone got p****d off about it and we all gave up for the day.
However, as you say, that leaves you without a fair crack at the whip so here's one to keep you going....
A farmer is heading towards the centre of a newly ploughed field. There is nothing in the field (apart from the usual stuff - soil, worms, insects etc) and nobody is forcing him to go there. He is certain that when he gets to the centre of the field he will die but he can't turn back. Why?
PS - anybody who keeps his pockets full of string doesn't deserve a point :D :D
Maybe the farmers parachute didnt work, and he is heading vertically towards that field. As for turning back....
before that I need to tell you that I need Different squares... sorry but yesterday my connection with codeguru taotaly carshed up and i couldn't add this to my riddle. Will you accept this or will the point go to Simon anyway?
Gabriel is right. He fell out of something and is heading DOWNWARDS toward the field.

Maybe Gabriel should decide. If he hasn't got a puzzle to post yet, should we carry on with yours?

May be the riddle should have been something like: How many squares can you make by adding one rectangle. But there's no point continuing the riddle if my previous answer is correct. We should just give it up because of a wrong (or incomplete) question. And let Gabriel ask the next one as he answered the farmer's one!
Apologies Elrond. I went back and edited my post after I realised it was you who found the 7 squares. I think we need Seventhstar to explain himself. As far as I'm concerned your solution proved that at least 7 different squares could be found in ddifferent positions but they were all the same size.
Seventhstar, you need to explain what was wrong with Elrond's answer.
