I also cheered for the aussies... Italy didn't deserve that win. They showed no skills and no desire to play. Too bad that they were lucky!
I have never seen a Refree like that. There was no penalty kick and there were only 5-10 seconds left in the game. I feel sorry for Aussies.
I'm 100% that the italians bought him. That's what they seem to know best lately... :sick:Quote:

The latest match, between France and Spain was quite interested. Though I was on the french side tonight, I didn't have too many hopes, especially after the spaniards scored from a penalty kick. But the french proved to be old foxes and turn the match. They surely deserved to win, in my opinion, and for me personaly it was quite refreshing to see Spain out after having to live with the two European club cups won by 2 Spanish teams this year. :D
After all, I was write with 6 out of 8 teams. That's quite good, but I hope to improve the percentage. ;)
I'm looking forward for all the quarter finals. They promise to be some memorable matches.
You were right, Cilu, Spain could be unlucky at this world cup too. I don't understand why they were not better tonight. Maybe because they were afraid of Zidane, and he wanted a revenge, or maybe because of the French raising star, Ribery, who, at last, have been told it is better to shoot below the horizontal bar than to do a drop goal, like he usually does.
But since a Spaniard scored against his side, Spain scored twice and France twice too. If I were a referee, I'll say it's a draw (but unfortunatetly I'm too good to be a referee).
I think Spain entered the pitch taking the victory against a weak France for granted. And that was fatal. France work hard and, amazingly, Zidane played quite well. Ribery was very good too and they game finaly shown some football. At the end of the day, it seems that the doom on the spanish football team is still here. As I said in on of my first posts here, I don't think they'll ever make it to the final.Quote:

I guess French deserved it and they got it. They played well and there game plan was too good. This match was the most interesting match in this round.
Lets hope for more interesting games in the quarter finals.
Of coure German will win the Word Cup. ;)
Cause of the incredible mood here in german. Here are party every where you look.
I guess Argetina is not an easy team to defeat. I am looking forward to an exciting game today.
I've seen on TV that you (the germans) were quite taken by surprized seeing how many beer the english can drink. For instance in Stuttgart, at the last England's match, with 60,000 English fans in the city, 900,000 cans of beer were sold. By the end of the day no beer could be found in the pubs. ;)Quote:

Here in Bavaria(province of germany) we pay lower taxes (7 percent) on beer, in the rest of germany you pay (16 percent).Quote:

So finally a well deserved victory for Italy. Boy, the Ukranians missed several great chances to score, an moments later the Italians did it instead. ;) That's football, you are not allowed to miss.
Yeah :thumb: I would like to see Germans to Brazil in final. :DQuote:

Brazil was defeated by the unbelievable performance of one man, Zidane.
He completely dominated that game. I am glad to see that he is going to
leave international Football with a bang.
I guess we have the 4 best teams in the Semi-Finals. French played exceptional yesterday and deserved to win.
Brazilians were not upto their mark.
I was right about one thing: this time winner will be from Europe.Quote:

I even told them who will miss from England and who will score, and I was 100% accurate. Darn. :o Oh, I wish I was so wrong. After almost 20 years of watching football I know two things:
- don't miss a scoring opotunity; it ALWAYS turns against you
- best players ALWAYS miss penalty shots in the most critical moments
Pitty coaches don't see that.
With the risk to upset people, I would call Portugal the most ugly team at this world cup. They didn't come here to play football, but corrida and theater. I hope they won't make it to the final, though they have the best coach in the world. England's federation did such a great mistake that they push him to give them an answer before the world cup, so he decided to refuse them.
As for Brazil and France, I've seen the last 20 minutes. I would say France definitelly deserved the victory. Brazil's first shot on goal came in the 91 minute. That's not a team to go to the semi-finals. As for the duel between Henry and Ronaldinho it was clearly won by the first both in the Champions League's finals in May and at this world cup. For god's sake, did Ronaldinho actually played at this world cup? :o
What I see know is a final between Germany and France. And Germany will win again.
I also think Blatter should resign. This world cup was a shame due to referrees.
Now, out of the 51 voters, only 15 have a chance to see their prognostics confirmed. I'm among the 36 losers. So I'd better stop making predictions. But I can't help it, and I'll say that soon after the semi-finals, only five voters will be right, since it's obvious Italy will win against Gernany, and Fance will defeat Portugal. Eventually, maybe the team who had not received a single vote in our poll will hold the world cup.
It was strange to see so many players missing their penalties shout-out at the end of England-Portugal. England players had psychological troubles or are not trained to shoot penalties. I don't know what they do when they are preparing a match. On French TV, I see the French players doing a lot of cycling in the park of their hotel. Previously, they were climbing rocks in the Alps, except Barthez. It has been said that climbing was not a good preparation, and that was the reason for their first poor games.
This morning Beckham announced that he stands down as England's captain. It's good to see that some players still have honnor. However, I don't think that either Terry or Gerrard can be trully captains as long as he will stay play for England.
If I had a chance of changing my opinion I would change t to France. From past 2 matches French have played their best. The way Zidane played in past 2 games was too good. :thumb:
As far as Brazilians are concerned, I guess they deserved to loose. English :( were as usual unlucky in Penalty Shoots or rather couldn't score.
Well maybe Tery could be a succesful captain. Anyway, I still can't believe they loose on penatlies - especially the fact that Gerald lost a penalty :thumbd: , but to be honest, I think they did not deserve to win. It was good that they fougth for more than 1 hour with 10 players, but it is really pathetic for England not being able to score and to play with long balls all the time. Also, I think that both teams were really terrible for playing such football. I don't think that Portugal has any future against France. Anyway, since England's out I hope the Germans will make it.Quote:

Depends what you mean with "a" beer. In bavaria they usually drink a "Maß", which a huge glass mug containing 1.0 liter.Quote:

BTW: It is a shame that because of the FIFA sponsors, around the stadiums they only sell an american, let me call it amber colored refreshment, which does not make drunk, but gives headaches. That is really bud...er, I mean bad.:D
:D But does that happen at lunch time?Quote:

I never understood how come an american beer become an official partner for the world cup. It's kinda strange with the world cup taking place in Germany. :sick:Quote:

Let's say it is not unusual, not like it is in the rest of Germany. But of course it does not mean every Bavarian drinks every day a beer at lunch time.Quote:

well done, France!...it's good to see them play as a team again...it started after the 1st goal in the match against Spain...and Zizou's rock!...and congrats Henry for being the most offside player of this World Cup:D...hope to see them in the final....and then, get beaten by the Germany:D...
lets see how Germany thrashed out Italy tonight:D...1 - 0 is enough:D...
I am with you. I hope Germany wins!
Ah, I almost forgot the match is tonigh... ;)
Yes, and we'll be watching it in an Italian pizzeria here in Stuttgart... :DQuote:

WOW! I'm almost speachless after the outcome of this match. 2 gloas from Grosso and del Piero in the 119th and 120th minutes. I hate to say it, but Italy is by far the most complete team at this world cup and Canavaro is the best player. Now, I believe they will win the trophy (unless Scolari has other ideas).
It's over now... I guess I should change my user name to "gsorrenti"... :DQuote:

so now, I've to convert to be a France supporter now:D...

Italians were again able to snatch a last minute victory. Too bad that Germans lost, I thought they were gonna go to the Finals.. :(
Since that the Germans are accustomed to lose a match in the dying minutes (remember the CL final between Man Utd. and Bayern Munchen). I guess I also have to take the French side, though I'm not very confortable with the thought that Scolari again leads a team in the semis. We have a saying in Romania, that the rabbit jumps from where you expect less, and I'm afraid Portugal may be the rabbit. ;)
I hope France can kill the rabbit no matter where they jump from:D...and then, break the Italian fortress and steal their girls:D...
looks like, France had managed to kill the rabbit...one shot is enough:D...
Scolari seemed to be frustrated of not been given 2 penalties...or maybe he frustrated to the players who didn't dive very well to convince the referee:D...well, I can't hear what he shouted of:D...after all, they're not Deco, the master of diving:D..
let see whther they can break the Italian fortress....and steal all the Italian girls:D...
Well, the Portuguese played what they know best: theater. There were a lot of simulations, especially from Ronaldo, who was razzed during the entire match. After the simulation that brought Rooney a red card, the bookmakers in England opened the bets for the date when Rooney will punch Ronaldo. ;) It looks like his days in England are over, which is a pitty, because he's a very good player, except for the moments when he simulates. Deco didn't play any football last night, and Portugal suffered because of that.
So now, between Itally and France, frankly, I have no idea who will win.
I will go with France... both teams have good defence.. italy has more of a defensive midfield which seperates the two teams.. strikers for both teams have had to work very hard.. but to me it looks like france will steal the thunder with last piece of Zidane magic...
But I have been proved wrong in my forecasts over and over again.. lets see if I have the last smile.. :)
