Go to the edit box properties and click on the 'style' page
Check 'multiline'
Uncheck 'Auto_HScroll'
Check 'Vertical Scroll'
Check 'Auto_VScroll'

Here's a program which I did while I was writing my screen saver.
This program can be used in conjunction with Simon's program; just click on the the color bitmap and it will show you the RGB color components. I have to tell you the 4th button doesn't do anything except to display the windows color dialog.
Nice. I hadn't paid attention yet at first, but I think your color dialog does not allow you to choose any color by clicking in the square with colors because as I've learned to display all colors you need three dimensions. This can also be seen in the CColorDialog of MFC where besides the square you also get an extra bar on the right to set the luminosity.
That program doesn't mean to display all the colors.Quote:

This I know. I was lazy to come up with the extra bar. So I come up with the 3rd button to let me get away with it. The original color bmp I wanted to implement in my screensaver options was the 2nd button.Quote:

It doesn't necessarily have to be luminosity. You can set the square to any two variables (e.g. red/blue, cyan/magenta, brightness/whatever) and the bar defaults to the third related variable.Quote:

I know that. I was just describing how it looks like in the CColorDialog. But I do think with luminosity it is the handiest to pick a color.Quote:

Hey, it becomes technical here! What happens?
Sorry I don"t come often to raise the level of discussion (actually, lower it right now) but I've been tracked as the most picture viewer in the company. This means they actually track how many picture your computer has downloaded from internet (included all buttons, ads, arrows, smileys, well, everything except text).
so I'm reducing a lot ..
I'm not sure they would understand the real help of codeguru, since not many of them speak english here... or they pretend not to. But I already started to say it was help for the work!
Have a nice day, and Xeon, I can't see Flash animations, but if you could post a screenshot in .bmp, I could download it (a real voluntary download, this case).
Hasta luego.
Marina
How could you do something like that? Check the temporary directory and look at the filenames (bmp,jpg,...) that came in between certain dates or by something else (intercepting datastream from server and check which file extensions pass) or is the latter not possible or very hard? In the first case you could easily write something to delete bmp/jpg files regularly.
I don't understand what you say, Simon.
It's not files on my computer that are logged, it's files passing through the firewall.
I regularly delete all temporary files on my PC.
Please understand that I'm an engineer, not a programmer. I don't know how firewalls work and whether these standard keep track or write out info of what passed for admnistrators or such. :oQuote:

Simon, did you understand what I said, at least?
As far as I know, it is something like this:Quote:

A firewall is a program on the server that scans incoming files/data on virusses and stuff. So I guess you could also have firewalls that keep track of which filetypes and what size has passed to who and this information is then made available to the Admin.
Something like that?
Yes, or if they don't do it themself, you can have something like a guard dog (I even think they are called this way) to keep track of all this.
And what are the capabilities of those things? I have the impression there are systems on the market with which you can see what is on a user's screen. I don't think any of the codeguru regulars would want their supervisors to know what time they spend on codeguru. Luckily I'm at the university, I don't think they want to spend a euro too much on any software. You should see our SAP software. It's a nightmare.
Tsk, tsk, Marina. Viewing pictures at work?? How dare you! I'd take away your lunch break in a second, if I were your boss (maybe I am?)!
Nah, only kidding! There's got to be some better method of figuring out who's "idling" on their computers than counting pictures. I mean, some sites just have one big picture that's really a mosaic of lots of other pictures! And besides, how can they judge if a picture is useful or takes away from something and whatnot? I guess there are lots of problems with the internet (security, copyrights, etc.) that are like this! Difficult to define and even harder to protect against.
So did you at least get a trophy??;)
Hummm. Are you sure that you don't mean a "watch dog"? Because that's something different. And as far as I know, firewalls work on a lower level than the file level, i.e. on TCP/IP packet level. They admit/reject packets that come thru various ports and decide which local application is allowed to use which port. At least the firewalls I know do this. There probably is some other service installed on your machines that keeps track on what you download from the net.Quote:

ok, but hey, I'm not Downloading anything! Except passively, like icons and such..
They should look for pictures files of more than 50Ko ...
Yes Gabriel, maybe I meant a watch dog.
Anyway, I don't care much since I'm not doing anything they can reproach me to do. I did, when I played a bit on some sites. But not any more. I have work to do.
And this thread is even the last I participate in that is not really work oriented.
By the way, is there a way we can have Codegurus' threads not found by Search engine?? My cousin looked for my name and found me here, asking for trouble I get...
"Oh, that's how an engineer works then...", he said.
:p

OK. For your sake, I've attached 2 screen shots to this thread. These screenshots are kinda dull, but the animated version is much cooler.
Happy viewing! :)

These kinda software are those who can allow the teacher/boss to see at one glance from their own PC(divided into n-th windows according to number of PCs they spy on).
That's terrible.
Isn't this the same as raping our creativity and freedom?!

That screen shot looks real neat, Xeon. But come on. You didn't need to have "Person #1," you could have just put SolarFlare. It's okay, you don't need to hide it.
Whoa! Have you guys seen Brad's new avatar??? It's animated! At first glance it looks normal, then it tricks you out...

Hello crazy people of the General Discussion!
How are you this morning? Still sleeping? lucky you!
Too bad Irona does not show up any more, I'd like to know what she posted that is in the Codeguru book. It is so usual to have signatures like Sam Hobbs or Jeff something (sorry).
But irona... :) Maybe she wrote plenty of books I don't know of. But since we don't have here real name, We can't check on amazon or alike.
This is my thought of the day.
Marina
She's still around, and her name can probably be found in one of the threads around here (I think the one "Pictures of Codegurus" or so"), but I could be wrong about the last one. Who told you that something she posted is in the codeguru book? Is it this book you are referring to?Quote:

Crazy CodeGuru General Discussion People :)
Nice.
As for me, I have some life organization problem now. Soon I will not have place to live and now I try to find the one new.
Oh, btw, Is it only for countries of the last USSR to have "the mark about place where U live in the passport"?
I am a last year student now. Student after he's ended studing must have the place to work at the govermental firm for 2 years. But I have been working already for 1,5 years on the commercial firm. They send a special paper with a query to give me a resolution to work there. But I need "the mark in the passport of Minsk place". This is the different thing : to live in one place and to have a mark in the passport that U live here. After I will change this mark (for money of course... this is near 300$/year at Minsk, but I found for 150$ near Minsk), I cannot live in the student hostel, so I must rent a room or flat. But this is enough high to pay for.
Hmmm, it is difficult to find right english words for this theme, so if anyone understands I am glad.
Hope, I do it and all will be OK :)
You have to work for a public company, like we have to do some military service for some time ? Can we compare these?
I don't know what you call a mark on a passport.
We have our address on the passport too. Yes, you hae to tell where you live. And you have to change it when you move. (btw I have to have mine updated).
But this has nothing to do with where you work.
When you are a student, and live in Halls of residence for students, you usually give your parents' address on the passport (or any official paper).
Good luck
Marina
dimm, will you still be around on CodeGuru when you find your new home? Oh, by the way, Simon pm'ed me and said you could live with him any time ;).
Hmmm, never heard it, but good quote. But I don't see what this has to do with me?? It's not like I have an avatar that's a die, or anything.Quote:
alea iacta est - the die is cast. Julius Caesar uttered this when making the decision to cross the Rubicon in 49 B.C. Used when a bold and irretrievable decision has been made.

Ho ho ho! :D
This forum is very lucky that Xeon exist. At least I'm a balancer in the whole process. If 100% of the folks here are too political, serious, cold and hard, this whole forum would be doom. But if there's at least 1% of folks(ME) who tries to balance the cycle, it's not as bad.

Too much predators would be bad, and too much prey would be doom too. :D
Sure, sure! By the way, Dimm...never stay with Simon. Although at times he's kind enough to give you chicken chop for dinner/lunch/breakfast and bed and such, he's always trying to teach you bad things and providing you with free membersips + free gifts if you join his cult. :D:DQuote:

Ohh, Belgium, the heart of civilized Europe. I like this. Nevertheless, I think that Philadelphia is a good place too ;)
Just read this thread. For your information: I never offered such a thing, I have rearranged the furniture a couple of times (2 times in around 4 years), I have never eaten chicken chop and I do not have a cult (yet :D). Also have an extra space free at my appartment because my brother recently graduated and found work at a place closer to home, but that is until I find a smaller/cheaper appartment. Besides, I'm very fond of my property as you can witness.
