Have you guys heard of the Fox and the Vines?

Well, there's this hungry and thirsty fox who pass by a vineyard one day. He tried all means to reach the vines but they were too tall for him! So, in the end, he gave up and said, "Well, these vines are silly. They're sour and over-riped. I won't eat them".
The morale of this story is : just because you can't get certain things, don't make bad remarks or develop negative feelings towards them.

Yes, there is. The unwritten law of the Jungle says that while men gotta behave like an animal(preferably lion, jaguar or wildbeest) in bed towards women, avatars in forums should be somewhat abstract. So, Ungi is right in this. A good choice should be a simple picture or an abstract graphic. Good examples include Xeon's avatar, Ungi's avatar and even Irona's. That's it, pals.

Hmmm......good....that's nice. But, it seems that the world is still kinda bias towards how programmers look.That's the thing. The only solution to this is to have pretty gurls taking on programming jobs and getting well-known.
No no......I'm not kidding. This is true.
Consider the two chess queens in the world. One is from Russia and the other is from Germany. I've forgotten their names(kinda strange for me to remember), but one is a 17- 19 year old bright brunette haired **** with a cheesy and sweet smile, while the other(from Russia) is more mature, professional and cold.(around 19 - 23 years old)
These 2 gurls alone, because they're pretty and well-skilled, they're slowly changing the image of chess. Chess, as generally, is mostly geared towards middle-age men(jobs include professors and such) or nerdy boys.
Com'on.....u know it's the truth. Nerdy boys and men are mostly those who play chess. You don't see bad gurls and bad boys(gangsters etc.) playing chess, do u? No......these guys(who're not nerdy) have sex and do drugs all the time. Tney've no time for chess cos' they ain't nerdy. Let's.........FACE IT! :p

So, back to the programming arena, the number of female programmers in this world needs increments by leaps and bounds. That's why.

Well, 2 years ago, I had really terrible pimples, mind you. Probably the worst case of all worst cases here. They were all over my face and it's as if my face was being stung by 500 hornets! Yes.....and it's really gross too. Red and bloody and they were almost all bright and raging.......red hot......ohhh......kinda toturing. But after going to the skin specialist, I managed to get a full new look and evolved from a ugly duckling to the ultimate angel.......I became the man. :)
Mind you.......the weather here in Singapore is really hot during the May - August period.(even than the hottest summers in the U.S.) That's cos' we're so near to the equator and in a country like this, u tend to have lots of pimples if you still eat chicken chops and french fries and such.
It's like living in a volcano and u're eating heaty food. U're bound to get pimples. :)

Aye~! Sadly, I have to! No no......I wouldn't get spots if I have to do Military Service. I wet my pants like mad and I think of a solution to escape it.
Here, in Singapore.........all boys around the age of 18 to 20 must do Military Service. I'm 18 years old this year, but I will only have to do Military Service at age 19 or so. 1 more year for me to make some plans.
Mind you, the military service spans 2.5 years here! Can u beat that????? It's crazy! By the time I get out, what am I? I would forget all my programming skills like mad! I would probably forget what does the name "C++" means! Probably, I would think it's a kinda new food or something.

I guess, the only way to escape this disaster, which I termed 'Apocalypse', is to give up my citizenship. But even this takes time, so I'll use the 1 year++ I have to make further plans to gain more time, such as applying for a private school. This will gimme another 2 - 3 years more. It depends. Within this range of time, it's enough for me to get outta here. This is what I call "Xeon : Last Resort.". :)

To **** with military service! Why do they keep forcing us to do it? We're not soliders and we don't wanna be soldiers!!!! They've no right to force us into this!!! Is this slavery behind the mask of Democracy????????

Not in Switzerland. In Romania, you can do this trick (it's a very popular trick, BTW). You just go to some university every year, pass the admitting exam (that's the hard part), and see if you pass the end-of-year exams. If not, pick another university, and so on. Post-university studies also count...:)

In Germany you can do social work, instead of going to military. Thats very nice, i did that in a Hospital and i learned a lot there.

I will try to stay away, but i think i cant. Once a week i will check my mails ( i think ). I think only Brad will moderate the forums, while i am in India, WHY ??

In our country we have obligatory military service. When you are 18 years you must join army for 1,5 year. But... If you are student you free for this 5 years from military service. After university you must join army for 9 month or 1 year if you are less than 27 years old. Also one possibility is join to aspiranture for 3 years after unifersity of course ( I don't know how it in your country, but after aspiranture you can have candidate degree in scince) and after that you free from army.

In Spain, a short time ago military service was mandatory and in that case, you could do social work instead of, but right now it isn't mandatory :)

Well Duh. I would be surprised if they did NOT have such an option. The last time every German (and Austrian) had to sign up for the military, half the world was set on fire. :mad:

In our case, budgettary reasons. Because politicians scr*w up, they always have to cut in something extra and for now its mostly the military. By the way, if you want to attack Belgium you will have to cross France or Germany or use British airspace, so unless you're America, I'ld say: fat chance. :D

Military service in France.
So as we said earlier it stopped to be mandatory for those having 17 years old last year, I think... or 2 years ago... Around that anyway. :)

As I'm a girl, I was never concerned about it. :) I could apply, if I wanted. And I guess any girl applying will be accepted to crawl in the mud. :D

You could escape the 10 months mandatory service, by declaring you are against arms and war, pacifist or I wouldn't know the exact term in english. Then instead you do one year of special service. OR you can be scientist then you serve 3 weeks normal (learn to hold a gun, do some exercises) and afterward you are set to a task for 10 months I think.
OR You can chose to work aboard, then you have to find a host company (or one of the french embassy), and you stay there for 16 months. This can be good for your job planning, because you can sign for one more year with a 'normal' salary, instead of military wages (which you had during 16 months).

OR you do the normal 10 months in any place they choose, you play the soldier everyday. You run all day for better waiting, you let your brain out before entering, and take it back when you go out... but you forgot your studies knowledge, if you studied.

OR you can declare you have a wife and kids, and are the only support of your family. Then if it is accepted you are exempted.
OR you can delay because of studies, for 3 years at the most I think (then you get back to the beginning for your choices)
OR if you are lucky, and already working, or just out of school applying for a job, and the company really wants you, you can say that if you leave for one year to the army, then your chance of starting an active life is bad, whereas now it's ok, so if you (you write to the army) don't want the unemployment to raise by one because of me, let me work and exempt me. This doesn't work all the time... I had a friend who was in this case. The employer even wrote to Mme Aubry, minister of the Work, and had to do his army...

I think I quite covered the subject. Not bad for a girl who was never interested in the army! ;)
