And as we are talking about the army: I wonder why feminists living in countries where the military service is mandatory never propose a mandatory military service for females, as a step towards equality between genders? ;)

I think they know quite well that instead of their other demands this one might quite well be granted and they instead of the politicians would get the blame. :D

Well, I know now that it is replaced by a civil service, a shortperiod of time, helping administration I guess, or I don't know what. I should consult the gov website to check. Then I think girls are intended to participate too. Maybe they want young people to realise they are citizen, and give them some civic values, and by then make them understand that voting is important!

Gabriel: the reason why I know that, is that I have a lot of male friends, and they talked a lot about that at the end of the studies... Also I worked in the french embassy in Ottawa, and we were in the network of CSNs, who are the one who chose to work abroad in a company or in embassies or consulates. ;)

I was just thinking that this thread actually distracts me more than it should. Instead of doing my work, I chat with you guys! OTOH, today being Friday, the 13th, I think it's wiser not to code a single line, or else the entire build wil be blown!!:D :D

Not true at all ! Luxembourg has a land-border with Belgium. We could invade you anytime :) Of course we would have to increase our 300-poeple string army though, but but... we could do it ;)

Then again we don't really want to... Who wants to have Belgium anyways ? The french would start making stupid jokes about us, so I guess we'll just leave Belgium as an independant country for now ;)

My God you're right. How could I've been so blind. OK, I'll cross Luxembourg out of the list of countries to spare for my nuclear plan. Instead I'll spare Lichtenstein. :D

It's not even a big change: just swap one dwarf state with lots of banks for another dwarf state with a lot of banks. It is a bit annoying though I will have to travel longer to hide away my black money. :D

Yep. It doesn't have as much people but it is all French. I go there in order to prevent my remaining knowledge of French from fading away.

Yes it's the same kind! Except people speak french.
For some programer's that's important. The only english word thay might know is "if, then, else, return, break, window ..."
Also I note that I have more chances to help someone there because here the level is way too high for me :)
so I get help here, and I spread it there! ;)

I think I'm reading the thread, but it is not the first time I see an answer to a post I've not seen!! Arg! How much else did I miss?? ;)

As for an answer, if you want a beach, you should invade someone. And don't try France because 1) the beaches will be too far, 2) we are far more numerous than you are. We would not even need to use conscription, usual inhabitants of the first town you cross will stop you! :)

Come on, Luxembourg is much bigger than Liechtenstein ! It's even more than 16 times bigger (check out the CIA World Factbook ;)) And Belgium is only about 11 times bigger than Luxembourg. So there you have it ! :D

Hmmmm...not speaking english at all can be a great handicap in programming, I think. Is there a french version of MSDN? Besides of that, the function names become less intuitive. And the vast majority of the forums and articles on the web are in English, too.

I don't know about the french translations of important books (Stroustrup, for example), but the german ones are mostly poor. That's why I prefere the English versions, despite speaking german much better than English (not being a native speaker of either of them).

Well there is this ongoing myth (joke rather ;)) that in the second world war Luxembourg was invaded by a german policeman. He met a Luxembourg mailman, thought it was our military, shot him and so invaded the country.

Maybe we can't invade France, but we can buy the cote d'Azur and expell french people from there :p
