For many, many years, ending about 5 years ago, every Philadelphia sports team sucked! But now, due of course to my persistent presence in the city, all the teams have improved. The 76ers (basketball) lost only to the heavily favored Lakers in the NBA finals, to a team whose star player, Kobe Bryant, grew up in Philadelphia; the Eagles (football) have been a Superbowl favorite, the Phillies (baseball) almost had a .500 season, but not quite, maybe next year; and the Flyers (hockey) have been to the Stanley cup. Talk about improvement! It's always fun to root for the home team.
Yea ;) I like all football teams actually, cause I just like the game!. But to think the Ravens are in first place with a 2-2 record. Now that stinks!
The Green Bay v New England and Miami v Denver outta be some rocking games this weekend.
Is there an *** database anywhere online where I can look up something like every game played between Miami and Denver? So I could see:
Oct. 16, 1973 Miami (31) at Denver (28)
Nov. 22, 1978 Denver (13) at Miami (6)
...
Oct. 12, 2001 Denver (10) at Miami (26)
You guys ever see anything like that?
Football reference. But I'm sure there are others. Search the web ;)

I've looked, but I never found anything that would give me that list. Like that football reference. It has all the player stats and team stats and records, but I can't get it to show me all the scores between Denver and Miami.
*opens the door and asks the people*
Umm is it long yet ? :D
I'm glad you asked that question!Quote:

That would depend on your meaning of long, since it is a relative adjective... consider that donut you're holding in your hand - yes that one - now put it down and pick up a ruler. I don't know how long standard rulers are in normal countries, but I'm guessing about 30cm or so. My country started a war over 200 years ago to become independent from England and the only thing it kept was the English measuring system... anyways, now compare the length of that ruler to the length that this string would occupy if you lined up every word of every post. Which is longer? Well, unless you use EXTRAORDINARILY small fonts on your computer, this string is clearly longer. If it's not, I congratulate you on your eyesite. At any rate, compare this string now to the circumfrence of the earth, or the distance across the milky way. Not so big now, huh? Thought so. So... in conclusion, "long" is all in your mind.
But as strings go, this is pretty long! Consider the fact that there have been 212885 strings in existence since CodeGuru started. Now remember that this string is the 7th longest and growing fast. That means it is in the top .0033% of all time. Quite an elite membership. Is it long now? It still depends on your point of view. For me, I would say that it is a fairly lengthy and equally meaningless thread.
  :D
<---Believes the Detroit Lions will win a championship sometime in the next millenium.
As long as we are on the topic of sports, does anyone realize the parallel in the baseball playoffs to 1997? In 1997, the heavily favored Yankees lost to the Cleveland Indians in the division series, who went on to win the pennant and lose the world series to a wildcard team. This year, the Anaheim Angels beat the heavily favored Yankees again in the division series, have won the pennant, and are going to lose the world series (hopefully) to the San Francisco Giants, the national league wildcard. Pretty sneaky there...
And isn't it odd that, if the Giants win the pennant, the world series will be two wildcard teams? Has that ever happened? No. This will be a first, unless by some miracle the Cardinals can come back from a 3 games to 1 deficit. It will be the North vs the South in California! And if history has tought us anything, specifically the American Civil War from 1861-1865 for you non-Americans, the north will win.
Yea but the south will rise again. Yee-haw :)
Why is it that when men are asked to talk for a while, they stutter around for some time and eventually turn to football? Come on now, that can't be a good indicator of what's going on upstairs...
Guys.......football kinda sucks, and it's so boring! I had rather offer to play with pets like dogs and such! Football????!!! UUGGGHHH!!!!!!! Yucks!
<---thinks that Xeon's idea to play football with dogs is cruel to animals. However, would rather Xeon played with dogs than squirrels. :)
