Unless it was just a clever trick to add a piece of email to my inbox, so I'd have to follow a link and find nothing, thus wasting a minute of my time.

Which gives me an idea...

You did something similar a bit earlier in another thread yesterday that I forgot by now, I think it was in the "How old are you" thread. :rolleyes:

Let's see... highschool is 4 years in the US (probably the same in Belgium)... I'm surprised, Simon only got held back 2 years!

I've never been held back a year, not even at university. I used a US term, I should have forseen trouble. :rolleyes: The literal translation would be middle school or something. OK: quick recollection of typical path for a good student who is never held back:

6-12 years old: lower school (Dutch : lagere school)

12-18 years old: middle school (Dutch : middelbare school)

18-24 years old (typically): highschool (Dutch : hogeschool) or university

So mandatory by law, everybody should go to school from their 6th age till their 18th, after that, one can go working or study further at a highschool or university. Lower school has six years, middle school too, highschool or university typically four.
