Well I think Portugal played better than France.
I really don't like Ronaldo's play. Don't know why the commentators always praise him even far greater than the lengendary Figo. He always seems to dart in a straight line. He rather seems fixed in a straight line and loses the ball more often than overcome the defender.
But don't know his goal statistics at Man. Utd. Only saw him score twice while at Man. Utd, once with his head and the other a long range shot.
Surely he days in England are over :)
Me too, luck is a real bad thing, always overrides the hardwork. :(Quote:

I am lucky. :)
With those public screens you dont want to go to stadium. :DQuote:

Both teams are in a shock, but should try hard to salvage the lost pride!!
I think Germany has a better chance. Also Klose can add to his total of 5 to get the Golder Boot. No one else is closer. Only O'Henry can compete, but he too has only 3 so far...
Anyway, I feel that Germans should be proud.. for organising such a wonderful event and also that their team got to semis. Their FIFA ranking is 19 and not many expected them to go so far before the tournament started.. :thumb: :thumb:
As a side note, I've just heard that Readl Madrid offered David Backham a 100 million euros contract for 3 years. That's abosultelly incredible. The highest salary so far in football was 10 million euros. Apparently they can afford to pay that much, since he alone brings 150 million euros profit per year for the club. ;) At least, that's what they said at TV.
A very nice performance tonight from Germany. Basically 3 goals from Schweinsteiger and a stadium that shouted the name of Jurgen Klinsmann over and over again. So now the only question is whether he'll continue at the helmet of the team or will departure.
FORZA AZZURRI!!!
;)
ITALIA, ITALIA, ITALIA!!! :thumb:
Down the france! :thumbd:
Alle, alle, le Bleu!! :D
During one of today's EuroNews Sports editions, the people that give the voice to the sport news in the seven languages that EuroNews broadcasts, made predictions for the final. Some even pointed the goal scorers and the minute. At the end, the Spanish presenter indicated Spain as the winnder of the World Cup... in 2010. :D :D It was so funny... ;)
FRANCE!!! FRANCE!!! ZIDANE!! ZIDANE!!
Down with the glamour boys.
It is Done !!

I'm waiting to find a picture from this match, before commenting on what Zidane did.Quote:

congrats Italia!!!...they managed to keep their girls safe from the France...well, Zizou stole one early...and Trezequet didn't want one finally...:D
what happen when Mr.Cool lost his cool?...a red card of course...sadly, with his tremendous great achievements trhough out his book of football, he closed its final chapter with his head in Mettarazzi's chest...a really good one!..:D...racial slurs from Mettarazzi really ticked him off(according to his teammates)...
anyway, he's already a living legend...exalted by supporters, praised by opponents...spin it, Zenedine Yazid Zidane!...
when a ball, art, skill, calmness, [insert more] and a genius combined, we should know the verdict...that's only a few glance from his uncounted magical touch...my hat tipped for this legendary man called Zizou...rest in peace (in his career, definitely:D...unless he cahnged his mind once more:D)...
//a tribute to Zizou, a man born from planet Krypton...
I call this moment "sic transit gloria mundi". For those unfamiliar with this latin saying, it translates to "so does fame/glory pass through the world"...

Congratulations Italy, it was a great performance.
Why did Zidane do that¿
Congratulations to Italy. :thumb: They are famous for pulling up games in Penalties and thats what they did yesterday.
As far as French are concerned they made two big mistakes. One was done by Zidane and the other was taking off Henry from the field.
Zidane I felt was most irresponsible at the end moments of the game. There was no need to do that.
Mettarazzi must have said something real bad...
That doesn't mean you will give away your world cup.Quote:

He has had it done 14 times for himself... no surprise at all.. and that I dont think was the turning point of the game.. it was just luck that Trezeguet's shot didn't make it... it would have had been a perfect penalty for just a centimeter or two...
I dont think there was a clear demarcation between the winner and the loser.. both teams played great football...
However, I dont very much like the games ending in penalty shootouts.. I hate such endings.. things should get decided in 90 mins or else 120 minutes.. not later ;)
:) :) :) :) :) :) :)
Hip Hip Hurraaaaaa!!!
Well, he's actually known for loosing temper in such moments. Years, ago, when he played for Juventus, he did a similar gesture, hitting a player with the head. He was then sent off for 5 matches in the european cups. So, it's not something new.Quote:

I don't think Italy really deserved winning the world cup. They are playing so defensive, it is totally boring to watch. A reporter here said: "It is like watching people at their work." Furthermore many of their players tend to dive at any opportunity to get a free kick. Some referees did not notice it, though not yesterday since the referee was performing well in my opinion. But in the match against Germany they got a lot of unjustified free kicks and provocated yellow cards for minor fouls. I don't want to put their victory in question, but they were very lucky , for example with the last-minute penalty against Australia, which was wrongful IMHO (the Australian player couldn't just vanish into thin air).
PS: I dont say this, because I am frustrated. I am not. We are very happy with third place, like the pictures from the "Fan Mile" show, where the German team was celebrated one day after their victory over portugal. http://www.spiegel.de/panorama/0,1518,425803,00.html
14 times, if the commentators were right!Quote:

Seems that I am right with my opion that this match was not worthy of a final. You can tell, because everybody is only talking about Zidane's red card and nobody is talking about the gameplay.
14 times of red cards or 14 times of violent acts?.....it's a huge different...;)Quote:

anyhow, goodbye WC2006...
//@Shuja: funny game:D...that accident really inpire people around the world:D...
Its more of a disrespect to other great players in both teams though.. talking only of zidane..
makelele, viera, thuram, ribery, buffon, cannavaro, and others had a great game.. they are all good players..
I really liked the way thuram saved the goal from luca toni .. when he made that sliding tackle in the D-area.. that was great soccer.. anything else that was eye catching?
red cards... :)Quote:

News has come in that Zidane got the Golden Ball award.
Brazil and Spain for fair play
Portugal the most entertaining team.
Klose got the Golden Shoe and Podolski the Young player award.
The press release also mentioned that Golden Ball was already decided before the final match started..
To me, Italy's game plan was so-so. They were simply bothered about going for PKs. France was the one attacking all the time. Italy looked subdued in their attack after the first goal.Quote:
