Lets see these are guesstimates...
I think the average is like 70K or so in the BWI area.
Junior eng. would be like 50K to 65K
Mid-level would be like 65 to 75K or so
Senior can range from 80 to 95K
Not much, maybe, but not too bad either. I guess in Paris, it would be 4K more anyway.
Gabriel, maybe you are comparing with a more experienced person, because for 4 years experience, it's not too bad.
And with the market that is now, it's hard to find a job, and it's even well-paid.

If your a startup, then 9-5 isn't what people want in an employee, if your a corp, then 9-5 is the norm.
Me I don't care either way, I love what I do, so I spend usually 12-14 hours a day working, some days I just take off early, it's a given, if you put in the hours, you get to do what you want :) usually :)

I'd say that in France at the moment, 35 to 40K before taxes per year is probably what you can ask for. Then it also dpeends on other factors: what is you qualifications (VC++ and MFC and ATL is good, but do you have data base, ASP, XML, ... knowledge), will you travel, what languages are you speaking, ...
The tax system is a bit messy in France. Some taxes are taken out of your salary at once when you are paid, and then, depending on all your earnings (including other revenues from stokes, buldings, ...) you will pay taxes again (a significant enough amount).
On the other hand, as heavily taxed as you can be, there are a few advantages like a good enough health care, a good enough coverage when you get laid off, ...).
That's what you can expect anyway. I know that the salaries are close enough from that in Ireland as well, but life is more expensive now than in most of France. At least you get taxed only once on your salary...
Yeah, that is possible. However, I like to spend time home with my wife as well. I like my job, but I like having a personnal life as well, so I try to keep my work time under 9h a day.Quote:

I also don't work for companies in major cities. However, if the cop is one cute female cop, then you will win 80% of the battle if you follow the trick below :

They tend to have softer hearts and you need to act as if you really wanna make her job easy, and as if you really care about her well-being.(offer to buy clothes for her if you need to)
Lastly, be friendly when talking to her. Give a relaxed smile and have friendly expressions and be CALM. Be natural too.
Girls respond more favorably to guys who're friendly and nice to them.
Plus, if everything else fails, offer to chat with her for some times. Girls tend to be bored sometimes, so a chat with her about your school days and dreamy stuff will get her engrossed.(girls are not as practical as guys, trust me)
In some EXTREME cases, people who try this tactic of mine actually married OR became good friends with the female cops.

By the way, my book only works for cops in certain countries, and it's mainly targetted to the American, Canadian and Western European market.
You need to use different approaches when dealing with different cops from different countries.
Using the wrong approach with the best tactics will get you nowwhere but in jail. :):cool:
Cops in certain countries follow the law totally and they trust the laws more than they trust God.....so, in such cases, don't play with them.(not even the female ones)
The cops in Western countries tend to be friendlier, and although police violence is present sometimes, you CAN MAKE deals with them.
Overspeed and lose your license? Never again.

Hey, Mick, also one question. Do U have a long holidays in the year ( donot know about right word in english for it) It is when U donot need to work for some weeks in the year (usually in summer).. .so U free from work and can do what U want.
I want to hoot and holler. I have been writing software whose main purpose is to run hardware in a distributed system. I have been writing the "drivers" and other parts of the network code for a few months now, but have never had any hardware to test it on. Well today I finally got to plug in some hardware and YIPPIE. My ISR and all the network communication seems to being working fine!!! I smell doom in the air:(

I 've just remembered, when I was a begginer and havenot a computer, once I had writted some codes for working with dynamical memory lists on Pascal on a paper, then when I had got an access to comp I type those programs in it, and how I was happy when it worked :)
