Well, buying a gun is probably not as easy as buying a car. At least not in every state of the US. But it is still not to difficult and it does not seems to me that is does much to prevent people with bad intention to easily get one.

It's probably difficult to find people with guns in some parts of the US (Boston, new York), but some other states have much more gun owners and holders (Texas, ...) ;)

media hype. I've lived in places where gun laws are relaxed and where gun laws are restrictive. It's not the wild wild west that the overblown retarded media likes to spout off with. Maryland has very restrictive laws and high gun homicides per 100,000 compared to texas, montana and VIRGINIA. Ohh yea, but that is because criminals run to VA to buy the gunz. Right dream on, that anti-drug war is working out well too, keep that up, cause you know banning drugs prevents people from getting drugs...

But nobody wants to report the dull news that someone prevented crime by having a gun, that wouldn't be sensational enough.

I kind of figured that you and Micko had a long standing feud of some sort after that long suaree of posts.

Now about me... Personally I wouldn't define myself as "in the middle". I'm more of really right(very little government control) and really left(cloning, abortion).

And as for the next president of US, I'll side with Mick when he said that both candidates suck, they are bad.....

I'm not the one trying to take away a persons right to choose.

Also, I often see alot of things here in europe as often too far to the left(simply because of the vastly increased government involvement), so that's why I often interpreted some of your comments to the extreme Simon. But that's just my personal political views.

And as for you and Mick, I have the ideal solution how to solve your feud, just simply duel. I'll provide the pistols and you can go out to an open field and point those guns(or do you prefer swords?).

It's amazing! It's been years since the last time I visited code guru, and when I decided to have a look at the general forum I couldn't imagine I was going to find this thread still alive. I can't believe I saw it appear 2 years ago... I'm getting old.

As for me, I'm quite fine, I was not near Madrid attacks but as everyone in the city I had some very bad days at that time. Now I'm enjoying my first visit to the USA, during a two weeks training school paid by my company.

I must say I'm having such a good time, meeting people from all over the world and visiting the beautiful Chicago city during the weekend. But my ideas about the USA and their system still remain. We were treated as terrorists in the airport, in almost a fascist way. I think the way you're treated in arriving this country is obviously against people rights and respect. On the other hand, after the first day I've decided to switch off my tv and spend my time with my friends in here. The tv news seemed too manipulated for me.

So, let's hope next time I check this forum the "Where are we from?" thread is still alive. It's very nice to see that everyone is still around. By the way, where are Xeon and Irona?

I refuse to read the news or watch it. The only thing that's shown there is death, destruction, etc. I'm surprised how you can watch it without getting REALLY REALLY depressed

Call me close minded if you want, but I'm just trying to preserve my sanity, I find it difficult to deal with all of the negative garbage in the world, which surprises me that you can actually do that over and over again.

Also, where are the positive things in this life, how about some headlines that actually say something positive(I know :eek: what a thought to actually think about, in today's media that's almost impossible). If there was something more positive, I might just actually go to cnn.com or nytimes.com, but the only thing that I see is just death/poverty/destruction and I can't take that for long.

As the saying goes the media brings "Doom and Gloom", maybe not Doom, but Gloom, definitely......

Well on an island you run into the problem of huriccanes and such....

Plus you can't just move a little bit further when you have annoying neighbors around you(assuming you're not the only one htere) :)

But that's not a bad idea, considering that you won't have to shovel snow ;)
