the last thing we need in this forum is a boy-girl discussion who is better, more intelligent, or something else!!! :o :o :o
I think there are better things to discuss!! ;)
How true. Such discussion has been taken in several forums and talk shows and it always proves that the boys are much more intelligent than girls. :D So forget this discussion please.Quote:

They are very bad at spelling non english. And In Ireland they should be aware of that as they often have Gaelic spelling for their names. No one can spell the Gaelic writing of a name when he hears it  But are still not able to spell my so simple first name properly :(
It's only a joke!!!! ooooooooooooh come on!!!Quote:

At least it means they understand what it means... Because Valiant is the same as Vaillant in french.
So drop an 'l' or place the 'i', you un-cultured people ;)

How much time lost here? Multiply 3hour per the number of people who visit this thread a lot, say aroung 15. It's 45. Add a good third given the time required to write all the posts. That's at least 60 hours. Then again you can add about 5 more hour for Xeon himslef to write his long posts. That's 65 hours. Add about 10% for the loading time of the pages. It could be more with CodeGuru being slow... That's over 70 hours.
And all this is probably really underestimated!!!
Just take a look at the post...Quote:

Intel Pentium.......Xeon. The processor. The man. The boy. The kid. The coder. The main hero. That's why, pal! Get it? For those of you folks out there who ain't aware of this processor, it's a line of processors from Intel, a world-famous chip manufacturer for the personal computer. Moore's Law is also founded by the previous CEO of Intel, Gordon Moore. That's why! Anyway, Intel Pentium Xeon, although it's not the strongest processor, it's a powerful workhorse which is very robust and advanced. That's why. Xeon. :cool:Quote:

Well, I'm actually a trained swordsman... :p No seriously, I do a little Kendo (Japanese sword-fighting) in my leisure-time ;)Quote:
The first time I saw your photo, I was thinking : "Hmm......he looks like those gangsters wearing golden chains with a large sword stained with blood in his hands..."
Heh heh heh! Kendo, eh? Yes yes......I've seen that sport before. Participants wear those masks like those in Western fencing, though there's some difference.
And the style of fighting is that each participant holds one wooden sword, I think, and they move forth to attack and retreat back when needed, and u can hear the two wooden swords making clogging sounds like "Clag, Clag.....clag clag......clag clag clag!!!...."
Actually, I don't understand why folks pick up Kendo, though. I mean, if u're being attacked by 5 gangsters, would this be of any use? Probably not! Western fencing is the same......unless.....u pick up a broom or something long and pretend it's a rapier and apply the fencing moves on it......but even then, success is only 30% at the most, and no offence......but.......Judo, Karate, Aki-do, Tae-kwon-do, Wushu and Ju-jut-su are all crap. No offence to those hunks out there, though. :D
If I were you, Yves......I would have learned Hercules-style no-sense bashing and fight like a knight. But of course, most of the on-lookers has to be young cute gurls and pretty li'l ladies. :):D
Judo is very practical - it can be effectively applied in real-life situations, even against five scary guys like Yves. You would not expect the Russian president to have a black belt in a useless art would you? Mr. Putin is busy man.

In fact it kind of depends which CodeGuru mails I have in my mail box. But this thread takes me most of the time I spend on CodeGuru, so I don't visit other forums a lot at the moment.
Anyway I don't have much time for visiting, just doing a little to release some pressure :)
Elrond, so it's because of this thread that I can't count on your help anymore?? ;)
for me it also depends on notifications I get by email. But then I visit my control panel to check which got new answers during the day. (and send all those notifications to ****).

I agree on this one, it saved me a few times as well.Quote:

Well, yes Kendo is useless from a practical point of view in normal life, unless you happen to be walking around with a katana :p But the reason I took it up has more to do with the fact that
A) You get to wear armour that looks amazingly cool ;)
B) I find it much more intense than other martial arts. But this is highly personal.
C) It doesn't have age-limits. A 60 year old person can actually beat you if he's better.
D) It's highly technical while also requiring you to act on reflex. (this is the same for most martial arts though)
Yep, I'm sure the self-control and balance you acquire in Judo helps you. Since I have been skating before I took up Kendo, I can't really say much here ;)Quote:

Hehe, but views are not unique. Everytime I refresh the page it adds one, so I guess that's hum hum ;)
Hop, 5002 views :p
My! So, most of you folks here visit this forum at the last, after you've visited other forums first, eh?
Well, for me, I really gotta beat the crap outta Cimperiali, the one who started this thread.
Now SimpleReally.......choose your style of fighting :
Kendo, Wushu, Ju-jut-su, Judo, Karate, Aki-do, Tae-kwon-do, Thai-style kick-boxing, Western fencing, Medieval-style combat(with/without swords or jousts) or Shaolin martial arts.
Why?
Cos' in the past, before I know of this thread, I always visits the Visual C++ Programming Forum, but now this thread appears, I haven't really visited that forum for a week!!!!!!!!(except for a couple of minutes at the most everyday; if any)
I'm so heavily addicted! Oh.......please.......is there any rehabilation center for curbbing this kinda addiction?
It's something like an addiction to the process of reproduction(u guys know what I mean) with 30 nice, sweet, cute, really pretty and slim and nice-smelling gurls with beautiful long and short hair and stuff.......it's un-curable!!!!!
Not even the best drugs in the world can calm you down! Help someone?????!!!!!!!!
Oh God........anyway.....to make the most outta this thread........maybe each of us can get 5 female friends(make sure they're at least average looking and stuff) to join this forum?
If there's 5 men who does this, there'll be 25 gurls and. If 20 men do this, there'll be 100 gurls in this thread and forum. This will help to further boost the page views and the happiness of our lives.
Nice idea, eh? :D
The A is probably true.Quote:

I can say that B is true for Judo. May be not the same kind of intensity, but a good fight is pretty intense as well. I have probably never been as tired in so little time than after a 4 minutes fight.
C is true for every martial art as well. A good man of 60 could beat you if he is better ;)
Even though they are useful as well, Judo is probably not the martial art that is the more based on reflex, but it is certainly technical. I have seen one incredibly physically strong man being crushed by another that was much more technical.
But even if it may be useful, I did not learn judo for being able to fight people on the street, it would be kind of useless, except if you are really strong. Other combat sports would be more useful even if you still are a beginner.
Well, hope no one here enjoy street fighting!Quote:

Cimp,
The Kind One
;)
I did judo for a while too. I do not agree with Cimperiali that it teaches you to fall without much damage. It teaches you to do that on a mat, but when you have ever experieced falling on concrete, you would find that technique not so useful any more. Mats have damping, concrete doesn't. I wonder whether he really tried that once while skating. I have not a good experience with that.
Also, judo is not a real fighting sport, but just a sport with certain rules. OK, it can be used for fighting and self defense. But you may not have the luck of having an opponent whose vest or T-shirt you can firmly grab, your opponent will very likely not obey the rules in judo : punches are not allowed in judo, so you are not trained to react on them ( at least not up to a green belt, which I reached at the time). And you may also not have the space to do some more advanced techniques, like throws when there is a crowd around you.
Judo is actually a way of staying in condition as far as I'm concerned.
Can one learn judo while adult? Or is it too late?
The only thing I can for go watching friends sometimes, is that judo make great bodies!!!
;D
Question 1 - YesQuote:
Can one learn judo while adult? Or is it too late?
Question 2 - No
Of course you can. I started judo when I was child, then stopped, then started back. When I started back, my partner was just starting judo and he was over 45 years old.Quote:

Simon, if there is too much crowd around you, you have very little chances to be in a fight, but I can assure that you don't need much space to throw someone on the ground.
When I stopped judo (the second time), I had just some first ideas of how judo can be used to defend yourself against some punches. But I think it would take a lot of training to have all these technics, even more because it's not something you would use much in judo fights (as the opponent will not punch you).
By the way, I had brown belt and 20 points for the black, so it's ok but not that high.
Have you gone to school? Every moron gathers around you when fighting. When you want to throw somebody on his back you will hit some other guys in the event you should have enough space to do so.Quote:

I stopped at age 14 since I thought I would not have enough time any more for homework and stuff. I have regretted this frequently in the recent years. I was smart enough anyway to do both and even more.
