Did you see Minority Report?? This was really one of the greatest movies in the last years (with Matrix and Lord of the Rings)
Yeah, I thought it was really great. My brother expected something more or else, but I thought it was really good. The story checks out OK, it all fits into pieces. It all happens as predicted in the beginning, but it is not as you would expect. And although it is not intended as a comedy, there were also some very funny scenes, including a rather absurd one which I think will become classic: the one where he chases after his own eyes. Great action scenes too. I haven't seen any real good movies this year apart from "The Bourne Identity" and "Minority Report". The greatest disappointment of the year I went to see was probably "Reign of Fire", which in our country yet received good critics. I doubt any of the critics (even in a quality newspaper) actually saw it. It shook my confidence in movie journalists a bit.
I agree with that. I have not seen a lot of movies this year and Reign of Fire is one of them. My brother found it OK, not great but OK. I found it quite bad, really disappointing.Quote:

A lot of people still don't seem to have problems with all the details that are not good, but I do. I think that when they put that much money in a movie and in the special effects, they should also give more attention to details. It's just very bad that they forget obvious things as they often do in this kind of movies.
At least the Lord of the Ring is based on a good story, the special effects come only after that and it make a very good movie. I look forward to seeing the second part.
The film was great, that book was greatest!! I never read a book like that. Too bad that I read it about 6 years ago and I cant remember everything. I think I will read it again soon.Quote:

I also cant wait for seeing the secont part of this great trilogy!!
I think I read it more than 10 years ago. I obviously don't remember everything, but I remember a lot and I might read it again one of these days. I just have to find it back as it is probably still in France in my parent's house...Quote:

There's a few other books though that I have liked a lot. I think my favorite might be from Orson Scott Card: Songmaster. But it's always hard to have ONE favorite book or movie or music or anything like this.

Yup, "****" is a censored word. But I remember an adv-banner on the right side saying something about .NET and "The End of the DLL-****". Funny

Awwww!!!!! :):D
Hmmm, I saw "Lord of the Ring" and I did't like it.
Of caurse, it's my opinion, but I think this story like for kids.
May be It' s good see on big sinema screen, but I saw it on computer monitor, and it's not seemed so great . I think it has linear guessed plotline. Only special effects, not any sense.
I think it is too long and too stretched. I'm not a fan of the fantasy genre and of all those RPG's based on that and other similar books. I don't like any RPG's actually.Quote:

Maybe we can put up a club. We'll have to be careful though, Tolkien a sacred among around 50% of the nerd population (coders, engineers) and probably despised by the other 50%. This could set off a bigger flame war than discussions about abortion, euthanasia or the more recent gun control.Quote:

In the cinema, it's the same. Plus you can have problems (which I had) with idiots talking and disturbing the movie.Quote:

Mwaa... It's not that bad, but I've seen better. Minority Report is better, seen that one?Quote:

My favourite book is from Patrick Süßkind: The parfum.Quote:

It is absolute genial!!! Anybody read it??
Somehow I partly agree with that opinion. That fact is that it is a bit slow. But it is how the first book is. The first part is very linear, has a lot of description and talking, and very little action, except some in the Moria.Quote:

But it is a trilogy mainly because the story is very long and could hardly fit into one book or one movie. Even though I liked the first, I'll really say it is good or bad after seing all three of them.
There is much more action in the following books, but I hope the next movies won't be just action movies, and that the story will still have its place.
And you'll see that the next movie won't be as linear as the story has three different threads (at least) at the same time.
If that's the one I think, I found it good, but I didn't like the ending (the way the "hero" dies).Quote:

I've been told by people who read the book that Gandalf is back. Very annoying to have characters that just won't die. He could still live because he is a spiritual, immortal creature. Is this crap really correct?
Should be the same, if you mean the great "dinner"!!Quote:

That's the one! Even without this end it is probably far from being my favorite, but it's still a good book.Quote:
