HI,

please tell me how to adopt search??

Here iam inserting one input box saying please enter employee id,now user enters employee id..................
After this based on employee id i have to retrieve other fields and show the record.......
how to do this please give some hint .........

Where do u want to search ? Data base ? Files?
If u want to search from Database table then use SQL query like
"Select EmpName,EmpDetails from EMPTable where EMPID = " + m_csEmpID;
Where m_csEmpID is string from employee id text box

Dear sowmya s,
There is a slight problem with the below given line

esql = "select empid from employee where 'Empid=&s'"

change it to

esql = "select empid from employee where Empid='" & s & "'"

Dear sowmya s,

You can assign the text boxes with the values in recordset using the following syntax

textbox.text = recordset(index)

i.e if you have a textbox named txtEmpName and want to show 2nd field of recordset (where recordset name is rs) in it then the code will be


txtEmpName.text = rs(1)

Follow that syntax

presently i want,inputbox should ask user to enter employee id and using that empid, other fields should be retrieved how to do this i tried but not working please help me.

i wrote code ie which i attached in prevoius post in this thread it is not working

Which code do you want help with?

"select empid from employee"

searches for one field, while this:

"select * from employee"

will return all fields. Just increment the name, or number of the fields for each textbox that you want to return.

Use the WHERE statement if you want to return only particular records (but all fields in those records)

HI,

i have two tables say employee and dependent............
when ever i open the dependent and click sommand button it ask for emp id ,if user enters empid say for eg 8...............

it should search the database employee for empid 8 and display that empid in dependent form empid text

please tell me how to do

actually database connection is placed in module so i don't think we have to place again here right???????
now i did't place connection it is working.......

Ofcourse , your assumption is correct. If you have already made a connection object to that database then there is no need to make another connection.
