Can't vote. Anyway, I think there are only 3 of us here from my country. :D
I'll forgive you Sonu :D
puh....thanks man ! ;)Quote:

hehe, no scotland either :)
At least there must be:
"(o) Others"
;)
You say you live in Germany and you forget neirly all of its neighbors:
Austria | Belgium | Czech Republic | Denmark | Luxembourg | Netherlands | Poland | Switzerland
I'm belgian.
I will change the Poll. Which major countries should be added ?
I think you should just at Others. It is no use adding other countries since people from countries counting 10% less people will feel neglected. There are around 200 countries and you will probably not find two countries differing 10% in people when you want to have around 10 countries in your list.
Splitting people up into continents is not a good idea either since for instance Turks consider themselves Europeans (at least they'ld like to) when geographically speaking they are not, and the European part of Russia is the largest European country, but Russians are not unanimous considering themselves Europeans or Asians. Speaking economically, politically and socially I'ld also say they are both.
Ok ! Thanks for your suggestion. I will add the point "Others" to it.

Actually, WebTrends reporting will give me a good feel for where people are from that visit this site. A majority are US.
WebTrends, however, isn't as fun as a poll.
I added UK and Other to Sonu's poll since they are higher than average numbers. I was going to change the US to North America in order to include Canada in the same number; however, I didn't know if that would offend anyone :)
Brad!
Thanks Brad!
That was what we needed. :)
So guys, keep on voting.
Currently their are 81,045 members on codeguru. So come on guys lets vote it :)

I'm afraid nearly nobody visits this forum. So you will have to ask in some kind of administrator thread on top of all other forums to invite the users to come here if you really want to go through with this.
I totally agree with you Simon. The problem is that the General Discussion Forum is not interesting enough. I thought with my Poll, several users will come here and let us know, what they think and where they are from. But i was wrong....Anyway i will talk to Brad. But we should make this forum more interesting, like many people are posting new threads ( not programming related )in the vc++ forum, without thinking of that we have a discussion forum. I think it doesnt matter how much percent the thread belongs to the forum. If it isnt a programming question, then it doesnt belong into the visual c++ forum.Quote:

Lets make the general forum more interesting. :-)
Actually, the thread has been viewed by 288 users, and there is only 20 votes, I wonder why so much people come here and don't register their vote... The poll is on a good topic, simple, don't require explaning your answer and has been started by a Moderator, what do you want more!!??? :) :) :DQuote:

In the question: Where are you from, do you means "Where are you now" or "where are you from originally"? I am french and I have done all my studies and my first job in France, but now I am living in Ireland. Who knows where I'll be soon...
That's a pity that this forum is not used more, but It really requires an additional time to browse through all the forums to look for Polls or other informations, especially when the forum you usually use is VC++ (being the more active)...
I mean where are you from originally ! I am originally from india but living since 13 years in germany.....Quote:

I'm from...er...uhm....HOME! ;)
Err, why "Finland" is not listed in there?
I think someone should add it, there´s so many hardcore coders in here...have you guy´s for example played Max Payne? :D
i think this falls also under the point "others" ;)Quote:

You can vote there ....

27 Votes
It startes to get interesting....:)
It is 28 votes / 476 views, giving 5,88% of participation, what are you all doing!!! Is only "guest" coming here ! ?? :D
I would like to see these statistics Brad talk about to know if the guest % is effectively 94... :D
JeffB
476 views: I do not think those are all different users. I think when someone comes back - like me - the number of views increases also. So the number of people who viewed this thread AND voted might just be 100%.
How true, Simon. But the poll is still not interesting enough for many users. To less users are voting......I cant understand it !
Are all of them really so busy ?
- Sonu
First, I think this poll need a a bit of publicity in some other threads.
Second, I think it should be better to group people in largest countries (North, Centre, South America; Europe, East, Centre, West Asia... or a kind of)
In any case, it is interesting to see the results, even if I thought Brad could have the cahnce to give some statistics from our logins....
;)
Have a nice day, you all

To Cimperiali : ... 'siamo solo in due italiani... Che Vergogna... :))!!!!!!'
I thought the majority will be USA, but till now it seems that the "other" is the majority...
- Sonu
And if you count Others + all non USA, USA is definitely not the majority. :D
It seems that CodeGuru is really international. Or may be people from smaller countries want to say "Hey, I'm here" while people from USA (and some other big countries) don't care. :p
I just know I am definitely not the only french, but so far only one other has voted. It is hard to have a good value information in this forum :(

Only two italians...
..credo ce ne sia qualcuno in più
I do believe there should be someone more
ma sai: tra esserci e scrivere qui c'è una certa differenza
but you know: there is some difference between being and write here
In ogni caso, fa piacere incontrarti qui
In any case, nice to meet you here
Ehy, do not forget local times....
in Usa (NY) is around 8 o'clock in the morning. On the other coast (LA) is even earlier (around 4 o'clock, if I am not mistaking). Give Usa coding people the time to wake up....;)
Funny thing, I was curious about the scope of this board and was considering a poll. Wel, greetings from Canada eh? (Others I guess).
Cheers!
Paul
The thread started on 08-11-2002, how much time need USA to wake up ? Are they doing a hibernation like bears ? LOL :DQuote:
