I have set out on a quest to make this the longest thread in codeguru. Talk about anything on your mind here, and all will see. Got anything at all to say? Let your voice be heard.

Remember, the sooner you respond the higher up your message will be, and the sooner you will be a part of history. You could be the John Hancock of codeguru.com.

Who is the evilest person in history (fictional or real)? Some suggestions: Scott Evil, Saddam Hussein, Catbert, Bud Selig, Bill Gates, Monty Burns.

I will support you in your effort. Here's my downpayment ;)

The "Where are we from?" poll is some posts ahead of you hehehe!

I know... I've been a part of that, but give this string some time. If the "where are we from" string could go to a thousand responses in under two months, I figure it's not over yet.

Look at Simon666's avatar ... someone blew him up. Who ever did that must definitly be the most evil person. It must be that same driver who's been running over his cats. Common fellow ! Must be the same guy who's bin Lady and now we don't know what he is... aNOnyMOUS maybe :mad:

I don't think he let it happen directly. In governments all over the world the rule is the bigger the government institution, the bigger the bureaucracy, such as paperwork, formalities and the difficulties to communicate to other people on the same level in different departments.

He did let it happen indirectly by supporting the Taliban because they gave the necessary stability for the proposed Unocal pipeline. And his family has proven contacts with the bin Laden family.

By the way, NS, what state is that? New S... ? I know NY (New York), TX (Texas) and some others, but not NS (Nebraska maybe)?

It's not a state, it's a province. I'm in Canada. NS stands for Nova Scotia.

I would prefer that you picked a different topic to create your "long" thread with. Evil people is a subjective topic and like religeon and politics ends up causing more trouble than good. This is especially true as names of real "regular" people start getting mentioned. I'd rather you talk about chicken chops (Xeon?) or something else. Topics like favorite foods, most unique foods, that great movie you just saw..., common things to do for fun in your country/area, Unreal Tournament 2003 or some other game, etc...... These are safer topics that don't result (generally) in my getting lots of e-mails with complaints. :)

By the way, at some point, the threads in this category (General Discussion) will be taken off the top list on the front page of codeguru (www.codeguru.com), so that the more technical threads will appear instead.

Sorry you get complaints Brad, I removed my post. Why don't people mail to the person in question and ask them to withdraw it. But when people start with asking for evil people and mention Saddam Hussein from start on, people indeed ask for it. As far as UT 2003 is concerned, I've heard it's not that good. And moving too fast, like Quake. Graphically it would be OK of course.

Let's face.........it. If you want any thread of any kind to stay around longer and get more posts and views etc., u can't do without Xeon. And Elrond. And oh yes : the invincible Simon666, the ultimate post-provoking engine of all time.

Combine these 3 together with additonal power-packs like JeffB, Gabriel Fleseriu and such, and you'll get a much sought-after post.
And oh yes. Yves M too, that great tempter who gives lots of precious views etc.

But then, I know that even with power-guys like those mentioned above, this thread ain't gonna be better than the Where are we from thread, simply cos' of 1 reason : the initial topic of this thread is meaningless!
It has no form, no aim, no destination, no goals. Oh yes. The only goal for this thread is to make it long. Now, forgive me, but that's too artificial! In such cases, people wouldn't know what to talk about. They feel weird, cos' it's not natural in the first place at all.

Anyway, if Brad Jones can allow us to discuss extremely hot topics like sex actions in details and such, the number of views and posts in this thread will be much much much higher. Hmmm......but given Brad............hmmm......I don't think he'll.

But just to give you guys something to talk about : suppose you've a personal program which is already 60% done. Now, u discovered that there's lots of bugs suddendly and u feel like puking. And for the time being, u're too tired to fix them. Arrgggghhhh........in such a case, what do you do?

1) Do u shut down the PC, forget the problems, lie in bed, and after that, switch on the PC again and delete that program and all the related source files entirely and forget about it?
No bugs, no worries, no nothing. Life goes on as usual......ahhh......that sweet afternoon.
Probably, better still, give up programming altogether and look for something new to indulge yourself in.

2) Lie in bed and dream of your fantasies and pleasures.
Go and fix those cursed bugs later on.

3) Cry in your bedroom cos' it's such a pity. The program is almost completed and now this had to happen......

4) Go fix the bugs, but it's very hard and tough and it's almost impossible, and worse still, bugs after bugs appear after that particular part is done......

5) Go be a male sex slave

Now, if you were me, which of the following would you choose?

There's really only one best answer, and here it is. Write a program which writes your programs for you. It would be voice activated- all you do is say "make a program to do whatever," come back in an hour, and there, it's done. Now, of course this wouldn't work, but you could market it for millions of dollars (or whatever currency you prefer) and go into retirement, thereby making your original program entirely useless.

But going back to the original question, if the program had a ton of bugs that would be difficult to fix, then it wouldn't really be 60% done, would it?

Xeon can use his superhuman skills to change the creator of the post to himself. actually, since most of my family is from new york, I root for the yankees. Clearly... this angels team was from **** for all yankee fans. Of course, I could root for the mets, but that would be counter productive since they are in the same division as the (philadelphia) phillies, whom I also cheer for. You mean will they win in 2004? Hahahaha... They are our national team and they couldn't conquer Belgium if they wanted to, let alone Europe. Although the French suck recently (we won from them in a qualification match before the world cup!!!), Germany actually too but they got lucky in the World Cup to get so far (as did many other countries). But even then there is still virtually every other European country that is a tough deal for our team.
