Anyways, I'm not so young anymore either ;)
I though it was me... maybe.. but today is the birthday of many people... two of them are 19 today, don't know, thought, if they are real Guru !! :D ... any younger?
I'll quote it before anyone other do it and laugh at me --> HA HA HA :D :D :DQuote:
From myself in that very same post
today is the birthday of many people
JeffB
I guess that's impossible to say as not everyone gives his birthday, so the administrator cannot make a search on that.
By the way, it's not me :(
Yes, the youngest member of CodeGuru automatically making her the youngest programmer that is internationally acclaimed as being a guru :D ;) :DQuote:

That's not true as not every member of CodeGuru can be considered as being a Guru. Actually, very few could be considered as real Gurus.Quote:

And there might be other programming sites in which you would have a real and youger Guru...
Well at 62 I don't think its me.
Ok. Today I am 20. Soon , from two weeks ++, I ' ll 21.
Another question.
From which age U had been working?
That's mean age from U had been programming for real programs, not for hobby only.
I am from 19.
I started my programmer studies at 20, and my first real program was probably as a trainee while I was 22, and I got a job just before being 25.Quote:

WayneS, that must be a typo ... 26 it should be :DQuote:

I have been progroming for 30 years but still feel like a beginner. Things change so much that when you feel like you have it figured out - it's past history.
:eek:
Wow 30 years and I'm barely 30 myself ! So what did you start with Machine Language on Zilog 80's or that wasn't even around yet :rolleyes:Quote:

Now don't laugh but I started on a mainframe. I learned Fortran and Cobol using punch cards (monitors not in yet). Had to submit cards (hoping you didn't drop them) and wait for printout. If a problem then back to keypunch. I got a TRS-80 in 68 (i think) and started using basic. Thru the years I have learned some C but prefer VB. Went thru several different basics. I want to learn VB script, java, asp, etc. Now that I am retired I have the time to do that.
P.S. Yes I did program using asm. You had to write your fast code in asm compile it and then poke it into memory from your basic program.
I started at 25 :)Quote:

I got 21 two weeks ago... Started programming with 15 and worked with it with 20. :)Quote:

I'm the youngest! Just turned 12 Oct 6.:D
Only kidding. I just turned 24.
No, goodz13!!! :D
I am the younger.
My Birthday October, 28. And Bill Gates has Birthday in that day too. :D ;) :p
So Bill - 1955/October/28
I am - 1981/October/28
long K = 13 // heh...
long N = (1981 - 1955) / K;
printf( "Dimm_coder is "Bill Gates" number = %d", N );
So as result - I am next! hahahahahahahaha..... :D :p :D
I could name a few people on this board that ACT the youngest......
There are days when my wife tells me I'm acting like a 5 year old too..... Would that make me the youngest?
Waynes - I've used punch cards too. I bet most of the people here haven't seen a punch card or a punch card reader......
I guess admitting this, moves me out of the running for being youngest......
Brad!
I used to use punch cards at a parttime job at Halifax Metro Center. It's where all the Big events go in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada! (sport events,concerts,etc). That was only about 5 years ago. After that I used them at an oil refinery.Quote:

Brad!
Main thing is to be ( and to stay ) young at heart ;)
How about, let's count our Guru age from the time we first taste of programming or the like stuffs.
Ok, let me introduce myself, I'm now about 10 yrs. old. I was born during the "5.25-inch-floppy-diskette" era, just after the "Punch-Card" era. I belong to the DOS family that used to live inside the dark "Window-less" x286 machine. During my infant age, I couldn't speak of anything but syntaxes of DOS batch file. But after a year, I learned my first formal language, (Turbo) Pascal. Then, C/C++, Prolog, Lisp, Ada, etc. came to follow.
Now it's your turn. :D
1st Computer - Timex Sinclair where I played with Basic language.
Then IBM-PC Clone, with 640k memory, floppies, green monitor. I guess that would make me about 20 or so years old! Mind you I paid more for my IBM-PC clone then I do now for Pentium 4's.
I kind of envy you people that had a computer when you were about 10 years old. I didn't get one until I was almost 30. So tell me, are you all the typical movie geeks. Not going out to play, no high scool sports, fishing, etc.? I know that when I got mine I stayed in front of it so much the wife complained all the time. I am better now, thank you. Let's here from you.
I am not better now...but I do not have a wife that could complain... :cool:Quote:

Were you teaching programming :cool:
Well, the only thing about age is I've had more time to crash more computers and programs than yaw (southern for you all).
Were machines less stable then and who was the Bill G of that era ?Quote:

Hi All,
Let me be part of it.
Well, I started programming at age of about 16. initially using BASIC then C and then others. As far as real programming, I started it just after engineering. I was 22 then. So I can see lot many above and below me in list.
I'll ask my brother to be part of codegru. He is 14 now and doing quite nice coding. May be he can top the list. :- )
Abhijeet...
He will incontrovertibly be in the running for CG Early Achievers :cool:Quote:

The door opens, and in came Xeon, with a aura of infinite light behind him.......
From Irona20:
Too bad. If you were 17 or even 15......then.......hooowwwlll!!!!!! ;)Quote:

From Brad Jones:Code:if(GetMember("Irona20") == EXISTENT && GetMemberAge("Irona20") <= 17)
{
GetMember("Xeon").TransformUser(TYPE_WEREWOLF);
SetMemberStatus("Xeon") = LUSTY;
}
Ummm......who are they? Is it this really cool poster called Xeon? If that's the case, you guys all got it wrong. Although Xeon is young, he doesn't act young. U see, young people tend to behave like young people.Quote:

Hmmm......also, Brad.......your wife seems to be a really really really serious and totally mature woman. I mean, look : you're already so darn solemn and serious and mature and such, and yet your wife can tell you that you behave like a 5 year old sometimes????? God! That's extreme! She must be of those most really serious and stern person in the universe! :eek:
From Yves M:
No no......Yves. U don't. Instead of wasting psychic powers trying to decipher Brad's mind, try using them to predict the future of .Net. :DQuote:
Ooom... oomm...
I can read your mind here
And oh. Currently, needless to say, I declare myself the youngest regular Codeguru member ever. Sure, there're younger ones still, but either they don't post or they're non-existent.
I once met this genius of a **** who's 10 years old in Codeguru(Visual C++ Programming forum), somewhere around 1++ year ago. Her name was Maggie Baldwin, which I can still remember. At this young age, can u believe that she's already talking like Jeff Prosise and explaining the flow of how the MFC source code works, to a big bustard of a fool like me?
Man! I feel like drowning myself in the Atlantic Ocean, cos' my achievements are totally pale compared to hers. Anyway........I'm the youngest regular poster here, at age 18!!!!!!! Cheers!
(I think......and I strongly believe......that Platinum Plus is even younger than me......from the way he talks, he can't be over 19. :):D)
I had a feeling Xeon was the youngest Codeguru but then again you never know. It could be a granddaddy like Simon with a login like Maggie :D :D :DQuote:

Ha ha ha ha! My! U're totally funny, Platinum!
If Simon really did that, I would puke like there's no tomorrow! :D:D
Anyway, here's a challenge :
Is there anyone here who's shorter than me? My height is 5"5.
Don't laugh, please. No giggles or grins allowed whatsoever. Be solemn.
Ok. Now, if there ain't any, then I would proclaim myself the shortest Codeguru here. I am the Man! Cheerio! :):D
Apparently you both indeed do not think at all (or think alike, depending on whose version). Platinum seems to think I don't read this thread because there isn't any previous post of me. I can hardly qualify as a granddaddy at age 24. Xeon however could qualify as a dwarf. :D What is 5"5 in the metric system instead of that crappy, archaic, snobistic English system? Around 1m65? I'm 1m87.Quote:

No Simon, because we do not scheme evil plans does not mean we do not think!Quote:

Arrrhh shooortieeeessssss !!!Quote:

I must be the tallest on Codeguru. But Simon, 1m87 less the 6 inches for your shoe heel :rolleyes: :D
From The Great Beast :
I say my height in the US system is cos' most folks here are from the US, it seems. But anyway, 5"5 is around 1.65 metres.Quote:

And at that height, I can easily hit the weakest spot on your body(u know what it is) and change your gender for you free of charge. No no......don't thank me. U're welcome. :D
I thought you were one of the other people making plans for world domination and that is why you chose that specific avatar. Can't remember the thread though. You seem to be contradicting yourself.Quote:
No Simon, because we do not scheme evil plans does not mean we do not think!
It is more than 6 FEET if I'm not mistaking myself in the English system. And may I ask how tall you are then, mister Shaquille O'Neal?Quote:

Does World domination fall under evil plans :confused:Quote:

Well I'm tall enough to see my work mate looking over the top of my desktop monitor (not around it like you would :D ) Most probably you wouldn't see over the top of a laptop :oQuote:
And may I ask how tall you are then, mister Shaquille O'Neal?
That says nothing. It depends on the size of the monitor and the height of the desk. I think you are really small since you seem to insist that I'm a dwarf. Do you have any picture of yourself? :D ;) :) :pQuote:
Well I'm tall enough to see my work mate looking over the top of my desktop monitor.
Oh yeah ! Unfortunately all my recent pics were taken whilst I was sitting because I couldn't fit in with the other folks :D No, seriously, i'm quite tall actually. I was almost a metre when I was born. I think the size of Xeon :D :) :D
I think maybe you are not familiar with the metric system. You seem to confuse meters with centimeters. :D And even if you are sitting down people can make a rough estimate of your length depending on the proportions of e.g. your forarm to your head. I think you are looking for excuses. :p :mad:
Oh, by the way, as far as I'm concerned (and probably many others), world domination falls under evil plans indeed.
OK, no more World Domination ! Will leave Bill to dominate Operating Systems, Xeon to dominate the gurls and I will stick to converting every post here to Chinese :cool:
