What do codegurus do with their spare time, when they(you)'re not working or doing other important stuff?
Well I drink vast quantities of beer (Beer is good), oh hang on,
beer is important..:DQuote:
when they(you)'re not working or doing other important stuff?
hmmm. What else. Oh yeah,
-eat,
-sleep,
-play stupid computer games and p%@s off the wife,
-doss on the beach,
-join forces with various other 'computer people' who have an absolute winner of a way to make loads of money, but that just fade away to nothing,
-try and persuade the missis that a new motorbike would be a wise investment,
-and of course, wrestle salt water crocodiles.
...
Well I like to Hibernate (no man slipping.) :)
I keep on programming... Ok, I need to supply myself with the basic needs of a human (like eating, sleeping, ...)Quote:

Of course, then there's this Discussion Forum called CodeGuru (or something like that) where I'm a moderator.
Of course, in the weekends I tend to make some time for other important stuff, which usualy goes down in a pub.
Many things:
-Cinema
-Theatre
-Travel
-Spend time with boyfriend&friends&family
-Buy clothes (this would like to Xeon :D :D)
-Heavy pubs :D
-Good concerts
-Good restaurants :D
and a thousand things more :)
Does anybody have any interesting hobbies, or collections?
OK,
May be it is not typical for a member of discussion forums, but I have my family and children and I spend a lot of time with them.:) Or
Regards,
CP
I want to reply to "Free Time" , but I pressed wrong button.
No matter: Cimperiali is here and can move you there!
Well, I collect tickets :), yes... all tickets: restaurants, museums, etc... all places in I have been with my boyfriend, I have them in several albums :)
And I thought I was weird as a Satanist. :p :D  I've never collected anything, except between the age of 12-15 red Ferrari 1:18 scale models. But that's it. Never been fan as a kid of rages such as pins, cards, and other specially designed collectable crap to get the money out of teenagers like Pokemon recently. I think collecting things is for people who have a screw loose. But that's just my personal opinion.Quote:

Yeah, I collect bugs :D:D
Nah, just kiddin' ;)
Nothing really special. Cooking, eating, sleeping, playing badminton, drinking a few pints, watching TV, making a 5000 pieces puzzle, petting my cat, going out. Most of these with my wife.
When 13-15 years, I collected all about Real Madrid :D :D
Hehe, I also collect my cinema, theatre and concert tickets :)
In my free time, I watch movies, post on Codeguru, play games, go out, used to travel (before getting this **** job :p) and practice Kendo.
I also like cooking, and am making some progress on spanish dishes, but I still have a lot of trouble with getting my paella as good as the ones of spanish mothers ;)
That's already two people who actually like cooking. Anybody planning to set up a restaurant after being fired as programmer? Hypothetical question.
I collect Euros, but only the paper money. If anyone happens to have notes of 50, 100, 200 or 500 Euro, just send them to me. I'll send you a note of 10 EUR back to cover any mail charges
And restaurants??? :D :D ... I'm rarer than you :pQuote:

It will be better than me, because I have never done a paella :)Quote:

You can order this book on my website using VISA. Just give me your number and I'll make sure you'll get it. :D :p
Since two months ago (and until various months I think) in my free time I:
1) I change dirty nappies.
2) I clean baby pooh
3) I wash dirty baby's cloth
4) I change baby's cloth
5) I can't sleep more than 3 hours one after the others
That's my full free time.
Anybody wants to join me?

Three nights a week, when I want real excitement, I go the the humane society shelter and walk the dogs in the slammer.
Tom likes dogs they are much more fun than babies.
I wonder if more programmers are single or married...Quote:

Usually Tom is kidding, but I do not understand this one. Slammer = jail? :confused:Quote:

- I rent movies
- I buy movies
- I read books
- I bike
- I train
- I ski
- I surf the net
- I watch tv
- I play music
- I make love
- I sleep
- I dream

Yes, it's great :) Actually my sister used to make paella when we were still living at home and I hated it :p My sister cooks really well, but I guess I wasn't prepared for these things yet ;)Quote:

If I get fired as a programmer, I'll just become a manager and fire the manager that fired me :p Sometimes revenge is sweet ;)Quote:

Yves, you are too wordy. It would be just as true without the first word. ;) Only kidding.Quote:

On the topic of food, I think the French have the best food, although I'm very partial to real Belgian waffles (from Belgium -- not else where, or they're not Belgian). Can one of you Belges fax me a waffle?
Hehe, two years ago I was living in France and the food was pretty good too. The great thing was that I lived just 500 meters away from a market, although I had to get up early to get the fresh stuff ;)Quote:

And no, Belgian fries are the best. Belgian waffles are not any better than Luxembourgish ones ;)
I still go with the waffles. Anyway, the Luxembourgish waffles are the same as the Belgian ones, but "Belgian waffles" is much more internationally known than "Luxembourgish waffles". Most people would probably end up saying "Luxlkdjaoseiush waffles" because they don't have the time to pronounce it right! In American cities, you can go to a street corner and get a hot dog, and yahoo, great, it's a hot dog. But in France, they have such interesting things to eat from vendors! And you have so many options with crepes, it's hard to decide.Quote:

Well basically the same I do in my not free time...programming...
Of course the above also includes the standard things like little bit of sleep, little bit of food...
Oh...and of course riding my motorbike...although this is more a summer-thingie...
2 Tom: lol... dogs.. hahaha... funny :D
2 Irona and Yves : What is poella?
Ohh, and about my free time...
Now it is hot time for me. I have been spending the time from 9 till 6 at the work, excepting time when I go to some studies at University. So If I am working, I cann't go to every study.
Soon I will have the examination session at University, but before it some curs works and laboratory works must be done.
As result I will not have much free time during next 1-1.5 month. :(
But then .... drink drink drink .... :) joke of course, but may be some.
As a resident of Belgium, I do want to make a correction here... it's Brussels waffles, not Belgian. Along with the waffles, Belgium has a few other TOP products. We have our famous frites with mussels, we have our famous sprouts, but I admit that most of us don't even like them, we also have more than 1500 (!) different beers, including Stella Artois and Jupiler. And finally there's our delicious Belgian chocolate.
Oh, sorry about that. Here in the states they're called Belgian waffles. When I was in Belgium, I managed to survive calling them Belgian waffles.Quote:

Consider yourself lucky. In the tribal areas we would have eaten you for such blasphemy, probably with French Fries. Hmmmm... what do I hear in the background...Quote:

So who invented America? Correct, the Spanish people (or was the Portuguese?).Quote:

I have heard rumours that Ugda Lat'tri, from the village that lies where the crow flies actually invented the wheel before the americans. But they did patent it shortly afterwards and drove poor Ugda Lat'tri out of business. What a cruel world
Does thatg mean they invented war, poverty, stupidity, bad food, bad presidents, racism, pollution, slavery, ... ? :D:D:DQuote:

By American standards, we wouldn't call it "war", or "bad food", or "racism", or "pollution"... but by international standards, yes, of course - everything.Quote:

To clarify: yes, America invented America. The European explorers (starting with the Norwegians, not the Spanish or Portugese) merely discovered what was already placed there by America as a big hoax. America invented itself and then it was found by Europe. An intercontinental hide-and-seek, if you please. And right now, Antarctica is hiding ;)
Spanish food :)Quote:

What do I do in my spare time?
Well, go catching and reading book on software development (Vb expecially), spend time in CodeGuru VB Forum (yes, when not working. Or else I would not be here) - by the way, this is me:
Total Posts: 3319 (3.84 posts per day) - , play with playstation, play with Vb, go find some friends, speak of Vb, try some Api with rollerblades, switch to Com+ to understand my wife (who is not Com compliant), and so on...
I'm an obsessive person like most of the posters here. When I'm not coding I'm reading about coding (or one of my other fields), or working on math. I try to escape my obsessive mind sometimes through the standard ritualized means (dancing, beadwork, etc.) and love good movies (still trying to get a copy of the newest Almodovar film through various illicit connections, but may have to wait for the translators...), but these are rare. I sleep as possible, eat when I have the time (or money), but those aren't as essential as THE CODE.
Don't want nappies here, either. Wouldn't know what to do with the attached, crying little bugger. Though I'd love to teach one of them things...
What kind of math stuffQuote:
