I remember very well 20 minutes long headbang with "Kill'em all" side A, a minute pause to change a tape and more headbang at side B. That was great times! But now times changed a little bit, I cut my hair, people don't want to headbang with me anymore :( ("Ouch, my neck hurts!" :D ). I listen it too, but nowadays prefer slightly another music. Every song has its proper usage: Battery to party, Fixxxer to work, and Bleeding me to.... uhm... u know what (but its so dammn long :D)Quote:

Some of my favourites would be:
Judas Priest - British Steel
AC/DC - Highway to ****
Def Leppard - Pyromania
If you were referring to heavy rock in general then I could add a lot more including albums by Led Zep, Deep Purple, Rush, etc. But I wouldn't really classify them as Metal.
Iron Maiden - Fear Of The Dark
:)
EDIT: I'm watching Rock In Rio DVD, it ROCKS !
Opeth - Orchid, My arms Your hearse, Morningrise
Wages of sin - Arch Enemy
The Project Hate - Cyber Sonic Super Christ
Bethzaida - Nine Worlds
Tristania - Beyond the Veil
Samael - Passage
Rotting Christ - A Dead Poem
Epoch of Unlight - Caught in the unlight
Dark Tranquillity - Projector

I kinda agree.. the old ones were well composed. .That element of composition somehow seems absent.. I loved the Master of puppets.. And to me their black album was a good one lyrically.Quote:

Wow !! These guys have epic compositions.. I was just listening to someof the sampels from their website.. I love the sound.. They sound similar to Dream Theater..Quote:

Just a few I can think of off the top of my head.
YES! another person that likes Guns n Roses, I really like the style Slash has.
I like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, all that old(er) stuff.
Avenged Sevenfold - Waking The Fallen
Avenged Sevenfold - Sound The Seventh Trumpet
(they might not be "metal", maybe more metal-core but they are amazing, the guitarists are amazing and the singer can sing so melodically)
Metallica & GnR & Butterfingers :thumb: love those three...
/can Deep Purple considered Metal?? they are great tooo....
didn't the Butterfingers is a grunge band? :ehh:  ..I love it too(especially their demo, 1.2 miligram and butterworth pushfull)....Quote:

personally I consider anything with muscle about it metal. Technically eyehategod are "stoner rock", but you say you like a stoner rock band to some bopper and they will look at you all funny - "what's that, like, jefferson airplane or something?"

I especially like
Draconian Times - Paradise Lost
Youthanasia - Megadeth
The rivalry - Running Wild
and all Judas Priest's and Blind Guardian albums
in addition to all the others:
[rock on]
System of a Down - *
[/rock on]
:)
Some of the Greatest Metal Albums...
CLASSIC METAL
Judas Priest - British Steel
Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind
Black Sabbath - Master Of Reality
DEATH METAL
Entombed - Left Hand Path
Dismember - Death Metal
EXTREME DEATH METAL
Cannibal Corpse - Live Cannibalism
Deeds Of Flesh - Reduced To Ashes
Decrepit Birth - And Time Begins...
Suffocation - Pierced From Within
BLACK METAL
( The genre is not really worth listening to, but if albums that are representative of the genre would be... )
Immortal - Sons Of Northern Darkness
Mayhem - Live In Leipzig
Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger ( probably the best Black Metal album out there, which is not saying much though, black metal sucks )
POWER METAL
Manowar - Kings Of Metal ( Extremely Gay, but worthy of respect nonetheless)
Testament - Souls Of Black ( Almost belongs in the Thrash metal category )
No doubt someone will mention Rhapsody, etc... I won't list it here it sucks
THRASH METAL
Venom - Welcome To ****
Slayer - Reign In Blood
Metallica - Ride The Lightening
GRINDCORE
Carcass - Heartwork
Napalm Death - Enemy Of The Music Business
Waah I like CC and Carcass stuff, they are great! And I also appreciate Kreator do you like them?
Were it not for the vocals I would probably like Kreator. A lot of the music that I really like is pretty heavily influenced by Kreator ( amoung others ) but those shreiking style thrash vocals just don't do it for me. I prefer more your typical American death-metal growl "cookie-monster" style vocals.
I used to listen to Testament, Slayer kinda stuff few years ago, not much anymore , though..
I used to be blown away how they could write songs which are heavy as well as soft.. like Testament's "ballad" and "Nostrovia" , these are friggin miles apart style-wise !!
I don't listen Slayer as much anymore either. Except I did listen to disk 1 of "Decade Of Aggression" while driving to work today -- very intense. One thing you should check out if you haven't already got it is Slayer's Still Reigning DVD. ( Link is my review of it ). To summarize, Slayer returns with original drummer Dave Lombardo, probably the greatest and most influential thrash drummer ever to record an amazing live performance of the entire "Reign In Blood" album. From "Angel Of Death" to "Raining Blood" they thrash like complete and total mad-apesh*t and when "Raining Blood" starts to play, blood rains down on the band as they thrash. It is completely exciting concert, leaves you needing to catch your breath. Its musical crack-cocaine. \m/
I purposefully left a lot of 80s hard rock bands out of the list that I also enjoy, because although it was considered metal at the time, I really no longer consider VanHalen, Motley Crue, Whitesnake, Ratt, etc... "metal". Do any of you guys enjoy that more 80s style ****-rock hair and glam metal ? I'll admit I like to listen to that sometimes.
Oh yeah. I still do.. and I love'em.. Just this morning was having White Lion's Pride running while driving to work.. what were they called, big hair bands ??? Yep.. I would call them hard rock , than metal..Quote:

@Mutilated1, the titles of the albums you listed above scare me. :o ;)
Listening to Slayer can't remember which album tho...
Think it starts with an "A"
Then you should not get this.Quote:
