Gas prices in ur country
Hi,
I just wanted to know how much gas/petrol (fuel for vehicle) costs in all countries. My vehicle uses petrol and costs me around 43 Rupees (approx 1 USD) per litre. The price varies from citi to city. In cities like Bangalore and Bombay, it costs much higher.
What abt others!!

Re: Gas prices in ur country
It's about $1 in Romania, now that the dollar has risen comparing to Euro (it used to ve $1.1-1.2 lately).
But that's not a good metric. A better metric would be how much hours/minutes do you have to work to buy one liter. Or how much liters one can buy with country's average salary.

Re: Gas prices in ur country
Today in Quebec, Canada, the cost of ordinary leadless gas is at a record high
0.81$us / liter
(according to XE.COM conversion)
it used to be 0.46$us / liter 10-15 years ago.
 :thumbd: :thumbd: :thumbd: :thumbd:
If you consider a salary of about 15$ / hour, this means it costs 4 minutes of work per liter.

Re: Gas prices in ur country
In my part of the US it's about $0.60/liter right now, and even being only 24 years old, I can remember a time when it was less than half that. I don't worry about it though, since I try to avoid driving whenever possible. ;)

Re: Gas prices in ur country
Here's a page that talks about some of the factors that tie into gas prices, if anyone's interested. The discussion primarily concerns the US, but says that prices are much higher in Europe because a much higher percentage of the total cost goes to taxes. I don't know how accurate or recent these figures are, but one example is gives is that 31% of the cost per unit of gasoline in the US goes to taxes, whereas that figure is 78% in England.
-
Re: Gas prices in ur country
True, lots of money goes to taxes, but oil control by OPEC makes the prices rise and keep our wallets hostages... It's all about a quasi-monopoly.
Gas companies decide on a price and stick to it... for a while. When vacations come... they raise it... for more profit... not because of shortage.
So unless selling gas becomes really less profitable should we see a real competitive market.

Re: Gas prices in ur country
Two years ago, it was only 65 cents per liter, now it is about 95-1,06$ per liter, and became higher every day
-
Re: Gas prices in ur country
Right now, its (US)$2.00+ per gallon.

You can find stats from around the country at gaspricewatch.com. The lowest entry in their latest numbers is $1.94/gal in Casper, WY and the highest is $2.79/gal in San Francisco, CA.

I did say $2.00+ :D (emphasis on the "plus" (+) sign. I know.. I should have put $2.50+). ;)
It took me a while to get the exact price... its actually:
Full Service: $3.029 (super), $2.909 (regular), $3.009 (diesel).
Self Service: $2.869 (super), $2.739 (regular), $2.959 (diesel).
Location: Saipan, CNMI (Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, a US Territory... in the Pacific Ocean. :D ).
// We have gas attendants here, so I hope that explains the full-service and self-service.

Re: Gas prices in ur country
With an average salary in Australia you can buy around about 2,500 litres of fuel in a month.
Fuel costs around $0.60 (US Dollars) per litre and that's considered high at the moment. Normally it would be under $0.50. They attribute the high prices to the war and whatever else excuse they can come up with.
-
Re: Gas prices in ur country
It really is frustrating at times, huh? Here I thought its only in Philippines or here in Saipan that gas prices are going up. But now I see its happening all over the world!
// Hmmm. Maybe I should read more news. :D

Re: Gas prices in ur country
Well, news generally blame it on rising demands from countries like China which could be driving this.. But, well, this shortage and rising prices has to happen one day !! I am just thinking why it's taking all these giant businesses so long to come up with an alternative to gas.. I bet it is their way of sucking out people to their last pennies..

One can't help but think that way, especially... I have heard of other alternative fuels for vehicles. Once, there was a rumor that big Oil Companies put their foot to block the proposal to implement this alternative because... ofcourse, they wouldnt profit from it.
Sometimes, I really see how people makes other people's lives harder. Anyways, just a thought. :)

Re: Gas prices in ur country
in Poland its ~$1.20 per liter of leadless gas, where most of the price are taxes (like 40%, or maybe more).
-
Re: Gas prices in ur country
dont go to germany guys ;)
in my country you pay about 1,60$ per liter, and its getting higher and higher every month. If you go to the petrol sation and fill up your car you have to work 3 or 4 days just for that.
(thats why we love cars with low consumption ;) )

The technology to replace gas fueled cars is here, but there is no interest in implementing it. Do you imagine how many trilions would be lost in the oil business? Until there will be no drop of oil we won't see alternatice fuels.
I'm not sure OPEC can't pump more oil on the market, as they say. I think it's just an excuse to get more money. Problem is that oil prices affect all other prices.

Re: Gas prices in ur country
Aaah.. Finally a competition Norway can win hands down. We're at $1.72 (US) per liter now. (95 octane non-leaded) And that is with gas-stations almost selling at a loss.

Are you serious?! And I thought Norway has plenty of oil reserves and sea oil platforms for extraction.
-
Re: Gas prices in ur country
Its terrible out here.
Diesel costs = 1.1 € (1.35 USD) per litre
Petrol costs = 1.2 € (1.50 USD) per litre
Per Gallon costs are 5.10975 USD and 5.6775 USD respectively.
The Tax is about 75 cents (I think) per litre of fuel.

We do. There's enough oil and gas in the north sea to keep us going another 40 years or so. The problem is that most of the money we make off of that is going into the aptly named petroleum fund, never to be spent. (It's at about 165 billion US dollars as of Q105) I think the idea is to eventually run the country off the intrests or something. Consequently we don't really get any immediate benefits off our oil industry (Not as much as we could anyway, just look at other "oil nations" like Qatar), something the gas prices reflect.
The taxes, and the generally high price level also do their bit of course, but since the salaries here match, we're not really worse off than anyone else... (We just like to think that we are! )

really? down in Melbourne @ the moment we are paying anywhere from $1.03-$1.14 (AUD), which equates to about $0.78-$0.86 USD. assuming our dollar is worth 0.76 at the moment that is (which was the last value I heard)

It's the same price up here in Sydney as well but I was calculating by the last conversion rate I heard which was around the 0.50 mark. Maybe I'm wrong... :o
Ok just checked todays rate according to the Comonwealth Bank is 0.7563 which places me well in the higher ranks of unrealistic optimists. :D

Where are you renting?
-
Re: Gas prices in ur country
south yarra - but don't let that fool you. with the rental market now, I'm paying less to live in an upper class neighbourhood in a reasonable apartment then I was 2 years ago to live in a dump in a dodgey neighbourhood.

sorry - that was a joke, based on what sounded like the incredibly low petrol prices up there. I might just go back to sleep. It's one of those days - Crystal Reports won't connect to Oracle, I don't know what to have for lunch, people aren't getting my jokes.

Re: Gas prices in ur country
In south Korea, it's approximately $1.7(US dollar) per litter.
Because Korea has no oil field, international oil price instantly affect domestic oil price .

Wow. So far you're competing with Norway for the highest gas price...
-
Re: Gas prices in ur country
here the price is just 7 cents(US) per litre !!
and so people are using their own cars massively resulted in too much heavy traffics everytime, everyday, everywhere especialy in Tehran(the capital city of Iran)
personaly being stuck in traffic at least four hours a day is somethong to get used to ! and its because of those low prices.
(Tehran's traffic 1, Tehran's traffic 2, Tehran's traffic 3) .
-
Re: Gas prices in ur country
maybe increase the tax on vehicles... so no one would afford to buy a car, and no traffic jams.. hehe sadly thats whats happening here.. 300% on car tax...!!!!

Re: Gas prices in ur country
I pay $2.22 a gallon (regular) here. You'd think it would be cheaper in TX where all the oil is?! LOL
-
Re: Gas prices in ur country
Guess thats where the Honda insight and all those dual powered cars are going to come in handy.

I propose to build a pipe from Kuwait to Timisoara and start smuggling the oil. We can get very, very rich in a short period of time. And when the authorities will want to take us we'll flee to Bahamas and live there for the rest of our lives on sunny beaches with plenty of beautiful women around us. :D

Two days ago, Emilly (or was it Gennie?) destroyed a BP's oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico, so there is fear that the prices will rise again...

Re: Gas prices in ur country
I'm amazed that not 1 person from England has posted yet.....we get robbed everytime we fill up our cars!
Its about 95p a litre (about $1.75) , but varies all over the place. NEVER fill up at a motorway services station, some of them are over £1.10!!
The thing that drives me mad is it's about 70-80% TAX!!

heh heh, you've not been on our trains then...!! Some places in Europe have fantastic systems (Holland in particular, love their double decker trains)....but we've destroyed our train network by government officials meddling & privatising the network, then realising it was a disaster & trying to swap it back....wasted about £5billion..... incompetent fools.
Its been really strange on the underground over the last week.....you can tell people are a bit on edge :(
.. & regardless of public transport, i still resent paying that much tax...!

Good point.
I've never been overseas so I don't know anything about it on a personal level. My mentor is from Australia and is always complaining that the US doesn't have enough public transportation.
Maybe you should start a poll taking a vote on what the new fuel should be. Electricity, used cooking oil, nuclear power, toothpaste backwash... :D
