You got it, it was mr Richard Newcombe himself.
I've had such a wonderful time!!
This is how it all happened.
Earlier this week, Richard sent me a sms, saying that he's coming to my town either wednesday or thursday, asking which will be best. We arranged for yesterday, sent him some directions etc. At about 3 o' clock he sent me a sms, saying that he's at a kfc (Now earlier in the directions, I said we're above KFC - forgot to mention that it's a new KFC), so I went there, and we came to my work - we chatted alot!
4 'o clock we went to a restaurant, he said he'll take me home (my car is not working)
We sat atthe restaurant, having a beer or two, justtalking about our lives - the good the bad, the naughty etc. We spoke a lot about CG and members too!
8 o clock we went to my little house (I actually live quite far outside of town, and I felt bad, that he had to take me home)
We got at my place, then we were on the computer.
Richard spoke about some of his programs he has written, and what he's busy with. I basically just showed him a couple of .NET projects, which I made for my self or the students
We talked and laughed non stop!
At about quarter to 12 Richard went home - he had a very long drive ahead, and luckily just after 1 o'clock this morning he sent a sms just saying that he's safe.
Richard's van, is the best vehicle I have ever seen - what he did to it, how he modified etc. Amazing
Richard is such a nice guy people and clever
Unfortunately I don't think we have photo's, but hopefully next time
Thanx Richard for your visit, and everything I can't remember when last I laughed so much in one day!!!
@leo: I don't remember as well (maybe we have already met  )
Looks like when a CG member meets another member they have nice time.
 :DQuote:

As I told Richard, all of us see each other on the forums everyday, everyone here has such a bond with each other - we have shared lots. I said, it felt like I had known him my whole life, or so long, although it was the first (hopefully not the last) time we've met.
Time flew literally too fast!
looks like you guys had fun.. make me envy..
well, you can take a boat and sail to my place.. :DQuote:

Thats really great... CG members meeting up in different continents... :)
North America, Europe are done; and so is Africa... Isn't it high time that something happened in Asia... ? ;)
Wonderful, folks... Keep it up. :)
Very true! CG members coming out of their 'digital' world and meeting in real life...this is one thing that I have never seen happen in any of the other forums that I have been a member of :rolleyes:Quote:

Good thing you guys did.. and had fun...
The CG Company is growing.. ;)
How about this year's Indy 500? If we went there, we might be able to get Brad to show up! I've never been to one, but have always wanted someone to go with. How about the CG crowd? :)
Hell yeah...... I love the Indy 500.. Only ever watch it on TV..
Richard...
There is a thread (a poll) existing on this forum that does exactly that (someone please help me with the URL) - segregate members on countries - however, I am not sure if the poll is public (i.e. whether one can see who voted what... ).Quote:

I am wondering how many kms / miles has this car done since 1969? For how many have you used it?
I've had it for just over 4 years.. and done a good few kms in it.. 4 trips of over 2000Kms each..Quote:

2k sounds real cool... :thumb:
Which places did you go visiting? Also, how far is Hannes'?
The longest drive I've done is also about 2k and in the US.
Los Angeles (CA) --> Las Vegas (Nevada) --> The Grand Canyon (Arizona) ---> Back to LA
The next one would be in Europe at about 1.7k
Heidelberg ---> Hannover (CeBIT) ---> Bremen ---> Cuxhaven (North See) ---> Heidelberg
...But, actually by European standard this isn't much. I know people who've done 5k on a vacation... In my case however, both were weekend trips and actually very tiring... :D
JHB - nearest coast is about 600Km .. (Durban).. and then i go a little south to Margate (Listed in Google earth).. total distance one way = 720km's..Quote:

Very nice.. wish i could do some travel oversea's :D...Quote:
