  1. Re: Does a static class var work in a static lib ?

    It's been too long since I last used dynamic .dlls. We don't use them any more as we consider there's too many problems with them... :)

    Why not create a simple test program and find out? That's...

    Re: Where can I get User32.lib file?

    Yes - but you get the latest c/c++ compilers etc etc. There's been huge changes to the languages since 1997! I used to use Borland as well way back then!

    Re: Where can I get User32.lib file?

    If you're using Windows, then there is the free Visual Studio 2019 (or 2022 preview) community iDE/compiler.

  4. Re: Does a static class var work in a static lib ?

    A static lib is linked into the exec code at compile time.

    Re: Problem with vb6 ide installation

    You might try asking this question on the VB forums site. They have a very active VB6 forum.

    Re: Tryong to understand templates

    Without using boost, do you mean something like this:

    #include <list>
    #include <string>
    #include <iostream>

    using namespace std;

    Re: Stopping unnecessary style corrections

    You need the option 'insert space after comma' set. If that was disabled, that's why you had no space!

    Re: Stopping unnecessary style corrections

    Tools/Options/Text Editor/c c++/Code Style/Formatting/Spacing/spacing for delimiters

    Same config page as before - just further down. Has options for space before/after coma etc.

    Have you tried it? I haven't done it this way before - but I gave up with .dlls some years ago!

    Re: Basic class advice needed

    1. Yes. {} is the default initializer. The default value is specified for a type. For a int/double et al it is 0.

    2. You constructor should be :

    vmSize(int nWidth, int nHeight) :...

    Re: Using template without an argument type

    This is a function specialization.

    Somewhere you should have a templated function something like this:

    template <typename T>
    inline std::string to_string (T val)
    {
    //....

    Re: Sizing a (stack based) array at run time

    The C++ language standard states that the size of an array must be known at compile time. This restriction is unlikely to change in the short/medium term. Some compilers (with/without some specified...

    From https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/cpp/using-dllimport-and-dllexport-in-cpp-classes?view=msvc-160

    it says that "all its member functions and static data members are exported". So from this...

    New style

    I see that the forum now has a new look with bright blue headers, buttons etc.

    IMO I prefer the previous more subdued look. The new one tends to grate on my eyesight.

    Can we revert please?
  21. Re: Problem with vector?

    This compiles and runs OK with VS2019:

    #include <vector>
    #include <string>
    using namespace std;

    struct ST1 {
    string abc;
  22. Re: Problem with vector?

    Is it now working?

    What are the sizes of the vectors?
    Which compiler version are you using?

    for(int j=1;..)
    vec1.push_back(ST1{..,..,..}); //ok
    }
  23. Re: Does #define change things that come before it?

    Definitions can be changed within a compilation unit. You can undefine a definition and re define it. The new definition takes effect from then until the end or until it is undefined or redefined.

    Re: How to initialize variant?

    No. You are specifying int twice. You only specify the different types that the variant might hold, not their order or number.
