Keyboard shortcut to activate a program

In Windows 2000, how can you make it such that typing a given shortcut (e.g. ctl-alt-1) will run a certain program? Or if that is not possible, to send a message to a program already open in the background?

Too lazy to go to the Windows forum, huh Solar ?

Just curious, but what happened to your posts?
Here are the rules, you must obey them or the gender bender will get you.

And if you ever think of posting without code-tags, the evil monkey will come after you.

I try not to leave GD too often . If I posted in another forum I'd probably forget about it...

As for my posts, there is a post-count-update sorta script thing that is supposed to be run every so often, but it wasn't run for a long time. Several hundred of the posts that "counted" no longer count, and were removed from the total when the script ran.

    Thanks Ejaz, I'll take a look .

Create a shortcut, open the shortcut properties, click in the shortcut key entry, key in your shortcut, close the properties. Or am I missing something here?

Ah yes, that's exactly what I needed. The strange thing is that that doesn't work! Oh man, what a mess .

[edit]On second thought, it works now, with a little help from these folks.[/edit]

I'll have you know that I do, thank you very much! (That is, own the place, not think I own it)

Anyway, I looked for answers and it did not occur to me to call it a hotkey for a long time . I must have blanked out .
