    MASM with Visual C++ 2008

    I am sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I didn't know who to ask. I have visual studio 2008 standard edition. I need to assemble a small .asm file and I'm not sure how to do it. The current microsoft assembler is MASM 8.0, which requires V.S. 2005 express edition to install. What do you do if you have the paid-for version of visual studio 2008?

    I don't know about the STD edition, but my version came with a "Samples" directory. In it, you'll find a zip-archive called "AllVCLanguageSamples.zip". If you navigate to: "AllVCLanguageSamples.zip\C++\Compiler\MASM", you'll see a couple of projects that demonstrate how it's done.

    If you don't have it, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to find the same samples online.

    There's step-by-step guidance for VS2003 here.

    You should be able to apply similar methods to VS2008.

    I found it (ML.exe). It's in \Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\bin
