I will download linux, but which linux (ubuntu, fedora, redhat etc) is good and easy to use , I'd like one for my virtual disk

ubuntu is suppose to be one of the best, but linux mint makes that even better.
fedora is more advance in features, but is harder to use initially. I wouldn't recommend this if you do not understand how/what a repo is and how to install applications from it.
redhat is more for servers. this would be harder to use.

Try linux mint. It comes more targeted to the common user.

I found Ubuntu easy enough to use. It is one of the more mainstream versions.

I do not know why you are referring to hard drive space and memory space as if they are equivalent.

All I know is Linux Mint is taking about 430 MiB.

In a very basic perspective:
They are 2 different components attached to your motherboard to perform task related to executing machine code.

The Hard drive is to store files and folders in the basic sense.
The memory is used to store variables and code in the basic sense.

Memory is more constrained in size. Today it is about 4-8GB in a system while a typical hard drive can range from 120GB-1Tb easily.

You should create a swap partition about 2-4 GB just in case you run out of RAM. After you run out of RAM, your hard drive's Swap partition will be used to emulate RAM.

I used to make this mistake once in http://www.pcguide.com/vb and was corrected this same problem. Ok, my bad, ungrounded basics I missed!

I have been obsessed with the fact that people possess uncommon things , such skin color, height, bone size, gender (male, female, gay, lesbian) etc but we have a common ancestor. This is why I wonder if we can classify them both as one to eliminate cases of constrained and unconstrained spaces available.
Could you tell me why people use the same unit for both ?

You mean unit of measurement? If that is the case, they share the same ideal. 0 and 1s. 0 and 1s do take space. 1 bit. 1 byte = 8 bits. 1 kilobyte is 1024 bytes. 1 megabyte = 1024 kilobytes...

That is like asking an apple to replace an orange. They both are a fruit, but they contain different properties.

They are basically the same, but as far as purpose is concerned, Joeman beats it to death.
Also, people tend to say "Hey, go buy me a HD or buy me a RAM", and you see the difference ?
And they might question you what is your HD volume as well as how much RAM do you have on your computer. ???

Isn't that what I said, but I said in the future they may become one. Unless you can see the future, you can't state that they won't become one in one form or another. One day hard drives maybe replaced by another structure that resembles memory. Usb flash drives comes to mind.
