[RESOLVED] Freeglut in VS2010
Hi,
I'm making a call to glutSolidSphere somewhere in my program. When I compile in Debug configuration, a sphere can be correctly rendered. In Release configuration, the project compiles, the exe runs but when there is a call to glutSolidSphere the exe abruptly stops/disappears. Any ideas what causes this/how to solve this?

Re: Freeglut in VS2010
Additional info:
It appears to be that the only reason it works in Debug mode is that glut32.lib was in the additional dependencies in Debug configuration. When changing to freeglut.lib instead I obtain the same problem (program exits whenever glutSolidSphere is called) in Debug configuration. I really want to use freeglut as I also want to compile a 64 bit version with glut functions, freeglut is supposed to make this possible.

Re: Freeglut in VS2010
Well, as explained, it's also in Debug mode. When I run in Debug mode, I also get no useful info as to what the cause is and how to solve it.

Re: Freeglut in VS2010
Still stuck. Is it possible I need to call glutInit somewhere first with freeglut? With the old glut version I didn't need this.

Sorry! I have no idea what glutInit and freeglut are.
Just read the documentation for your current version.

Re: Freeglut in VS2010
This travesty can hardly be called "documentation".
http://freeglut.sourceforge.net/docs/api.php
Maybe I need to look for something else than freeglut. I have an MDI application and as such I do not have a function:
int main(int argc, char *argv[])
So I don't know what parameters to pass to glutInit( & argc, argv );

Re: Freeglut in VS2010
A long time ago I used glut with Mui (a micro user interface that came with glut).
I just gave values to those variables. Something like:
Code:
int argc = 1;
char * argv[] = { "your_exe_name" };
glutInit(&argc,argv);

Re: Freeglut in VS2010
Doesn't seem to work. In the meantime I've found the function gluSphere and gluCylinder do what i want without needing any glut functions. Ah, the joys of trying to get code written around 2001 up to date and working in a 64 bit version.
