    scanf and space character

    Why scanf cannot read space character?
    I need to read my name and surname by stdin into the same array, so I thought to use :

    Code:
    char completename[50];
    scanf("%s", completename);
    Someone suggested me fgets, why scanf cannot read space character?

    Re: scanf and space character

    Is this c# or c ??

    If c, then by definition %s used with scanf reads a string until a white-space char is encountered. If you want to read the whole line until a '\n' then since c11 use get_s(). See:
