Issue generating excel interface code in VS 2022
I'm trying to write some code to interact with an Excel workbook, but so far I have landed flat on my face. Out of the gate I am getting errors from the compiler even though the code is nearly a one for one copy from the web.
What am I doing wrong?
Code:
Option Explicit On
Imports Excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel
Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application
Imports Workbook = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook ,_ I added this.
Imports Worksheet = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Worksheet ,_ I added this.
Imports System.IO
Public Class ClsExcel
Private m_szWBPath As String
Private xlApp As Excel.Application <-Does not like
'Dim xlWorkBook As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook
'Dim xlWorkSheet As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Worksheet
Public Function CreateExcelObject(ByVal szFileName As String) As Object
m_szWBPath = Directory.GetCurrentDirectory()
xlApp = New Excel.Application <- Does not like
Thanks for the help.

All advice is offered in good faith only. All my code is tested (unless stated explicitly otherwise) with the latest version of Microsoft Visual Studio (using the supported features of the latest standard) and is offered as examples only - not as production quality. I cannot offer advice regarding any other c/c++ compiler/IDE or incompatibilities with VS.
