Maps services
Hi,
I want to put in my web app some links that will display map along with a dot or something on it that indicates given location (address or GPS coordinates - doesn't matter at this point). I know that it could be done using http://local.live.com/ but did someone hear about other similar services? The best for me would be if I could grab the bitmap and show it in my app not having to redirect user to different web page.
Any help appreciated,

Re: Maps services
What you need is a map-based web service. I did a simple search on Google and found some results. It looks like they may do what you need, although I don't have time to actually read into them. You'll need to read them yourself.
It appears MSN and Yahoo both have a service you can use. Not all of them will allow you to download the maps directly to your website, without some type of advertisement. Most websites depend on traffic to their website to keep them running. If you can just download everything without visiting their website, they receive no credit for providing the serivce in the first place. Some services will allow you to download the results to your website, but will force you to display unwanted ads, or will stamp the images with a copyright notice.

Looked like a good match with a quick glance.
