What would you do if you had the best compression method in the world?
I have no doubt, that KZJS3 is the best compression method ON THE PLANET.
Test Results of a 77.5MB avi file
That 77.5 MB AVI file was a screen capture.
I own the greatest compression method. What would you do if you were me? I am curious.

I am giving your the benefit of doubt.
Have you patented it? You can sell it as a product or even license it to other companies.
If you are generous, you can even contribute it to the open source.

Carlsberg don't make compression methods

If it is the greatest compression method, IMHO, it is financially stupid to make it open standard and open source. James can milk his invention for money, so that he can retire comfortably and need not worry about his retirement, when he is old.

Maybe James should benchmark his results against other compression software like winzip, winace, winrar and libraries like zlib

Will the best compression technology reduce the calories in my favorite Pizza?
If not, it still needs improvements...

Hey, that's lossy compression! As long as your pizza still look and taste like one, it is probably alright.

Oh yes, you are right, any lossy compression technology is not acceptable if my Pizza changes in dimension, size, color, crispiness, freshness or taste.

Re: What would you do if you had the best compression method in the world?
Um, you are confusing lossy compression technology with cheesy compression technology.
Also, would it be okay if I posted a 376MB AVI file of me making a pizza?
The file was originally 33MB but then I compressed it.
It uses the new algorithm (codename 'yeast').
It works a bit different than the other algorithms, but it's self rising. It's fantastic.
Okay, now back to the serious matter at hand.
My question is whether I need to have the avi present on my system in order to compress or decompress?

Hmm guess it's not a good idea to go compressing brains with it yet. Don't want to become amnesic after decompression.
