    Virtual DVD drive

    Hi:

    I had installed a Virtual DVD drive on my computer. But this virtual DVD drive can only be recognized once I start Window XP. But during the machine boot time, the computer do not recognized it. How can I solve this issue? Thanks.

    Your computer can at boot time only access devices the BIOS knows about. If the virtual DVD works through a driver in Windows then you will need to have Windows running, so that the driver runs, so that the virtual DVD is available. Unless the BIOS in your system can boot from a virtual DVD image somewhere on another device I do not see a direct way around this.

    Another option could be to use a 4 GB+ USB flash drive? Most BIOSes nowadays support these at boot time.
