Question Your Opinion - My Blog

I have a new blog started on Codeguru. Before you go look at it (should you decide to), I have a question. What would you like to see me cover in the blog? I can cover more than one thing or type of thing. I can cover 'newsie' type items, I can cover general techie topics, I can cover simply the things happening on or around codeguru, I can cover leading edge industry things, I can cover some of the same stuff I have covered in the Codeguru newsletter in the past (in which case, the newsletter will focus more on the content on the site and not on my editorials), or I can cover about anything else.

Anyone have any thoughts? Is there anything I should not cover?

Congratulations! And wish you a very happy new year too!

'Newsie' type items are good and welcome too. Anything to do with development tools, new product releases (and upgrades), any language specific articles, architectural/design/patterns related topics, your personal technical experiences/opinions of programming/tools and development in general are all welcome. Keep yourself unconstrained about topics and we can request you about anything specific we want from time to time. :-)

Only thing, if you could make the archives easily browsable/searchable, categorized on topic area. I haven't had a look at your blog yet, but for sure will try to keep in touch.

That sounds complex, why didn't you make a simpler choice ? Please inform what you have done... I have not seen anything as said by exterminator

I don't fully understand what you mean. Right now the blog has a variety of tech topics covered ranging from newsie - (Removing Wires in Your CPU, SharePointBriefings.com launched, JavaFX), to language articles (VB Type Infernece, VB Closer to C#...), to Codeguru-related items (Multi-core confusion)

    Just my $(1/50)....

My impression of CG is that it brings together excellence in a variety of technical (programming) arenas, and provides newcomers a great way to access this knowledge.

Your blog *could* take a similar approach, by having posts that aggregate information for a specific topic from a variety of sources at differing levels, and provides a synopsis of this information. In one sweep this accomplishes many things, and would be a relatively unique approach.

FYI: This was actually the intent of MY blog, but because of time contraints (and the fact that I am not natrually a writer) it never really achieved that goal....

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice; in practice there is.

That was what I wanted to do with my blog.

Slightly off topic but I thought I post it here since it's related to your blog. I have been having a new experience with Outlook and feeds and was wondering if there was a way to have your blog posts accessible from Outlook or Live Mail? I did not see a link to set up an RSS feed but I am not very aware of other ways that might be possible? It would be very helpful to stay up to date and have access to blogs that I follow at one single point.

I'll see if I can get an RSS feed associated with the blog. I'm not sure why one wasn't added by our developers by default....

There isn't a link on the site to the RSS feed for the blog, but the following URL should work:

    http://blog.codeguru.com/blog/rss.xml
