windows 7 could not connect xp
windows 7 could not connect xp
in 7, can see xp, but when click to get in, asked to id and password. try both pc id and passwrd and failed. troubleshooter says "no permission", but username and password entered correctly. windows 7 and xp are in the same workgroup.
dialog box always shows "win7\xp" and invalid password. "win7" is the windows 7 computer name and "xp" is windows xp computer name. it seems that xp is under windows 7. but it's workgroup. confused?
in xp, can get the shared folder in 7. so it's one way.
any fix?

Re: windows 7 could not connect xp
Set up a shared folder. It's easiest when you have the exact same user name/password for both boxes. That way, you won't see a prompt

Re: windows 7 could not connect xp
Windows 7 has a new methodology of sharing files and folders called a home group. Here is a video on Bing that will walk you through the process of setting up a home group for the purpose of sharing your file llibraries amongst your various machines...

You muight also want to look at document/file libraries to better understand the new methodology being emplyed by the new OS.
Hope this helps!
