Summary: E-iceblue upgraded its Spire.PDF for .NET to support silverlight platform. New version supports most of the functions on Silverlight platform which support .NET before. This makes Spire.PDF much more powerful than before.

Content: On Dec. 14, 2011, e-iceblue, which consistently offers high-quality, pure and stable .NET components for handling office format files, released its new version of Spire. PDF for .NET. New version 2.1 enables programmers to use Spire.PDF on Silverlight platform.

Spire.PDF for .NET is a PDF document creation component that enables.NET applications to read, write and manipulate PDF documents without using Adobe Acrobat. Now, the new update makes Silverlight applications also can operate PDF documents without Adobe Acrobat. Before Spire.PDF, E-iceblue had added silverlight platform on its Spire.Doc, Spire.XLS and Spire.Office. Document conversion function still doesn’t support on Silverlight platform for Spire.PDF.

New edition enables programmers operate PDF document on drawing text, graphics, setting document properties, forms, standards, fonts, page operations, interactive elements and even merge, overlay PDF files, import or stamp, etc. But unfortunately, new version 2.1 doesn’t add some normal functions for Silverlight platform. In this update, users can’t extract text from PDF document on Silverlight platform, and also can not draw barcode, split PDF and set document security. Wish these normal functions can be added in the next upgrade.

Now, let’s check out what functions Spire.PDF brought us on Siliverlight platform.

 Drawing Text which supports multilingual and set text formatting
 Drawing graphics with pen and brush and set as transparent, color spaces and transform. Support extracting images
 Operate PDF files such as merge, overlay, import, stamp and booklet.
