what exactly is c# supposed to be?
Since the only reference you have is the language spec it might be wise to wait until more information about C# is released. C# was designed for a particular area of development. I've been using it for several months, and using it towards it's intended purpose. Kill the rumor mills and just wait for concrete information and not MS bashing or speculation.

Re: what exactly is c# supposed to be?
At this point I'm not able, due to NDA, to discuss in detail the target plans. However, my NDA is lifted after the PDC. Once my NDA is released I will be glad to provide code samples, faq, and other information.

Re: what exactly is c# supposed to be?
C# was submitted to the ECMA board early this year. At that time, nearly everything about the language was totally public. You'll find lots of information in this forum already. You'll also find a few articles in the C#/.NET section of this web site http://www.codeguru.com
