Read text file from Internet
I have an application that I update frequently...
I would like to have the application open a .txt file from my web site, read it's contents to determine the latest version, and if necessary, inform the user that an update exists.
Problem is, I haven't the slightest idea how to begin.
Anyone have any good pointers?
I would presume it's a WinSock or INet control thing, but I'm not familiar with them, so have no idea how to use them...
Thanks!

Re: Read text file from Internet
I've written an internet update program, the code can be downloaded from http://www.planetsourcecode.com/xq/A...s/ShowCode.htm. This can be a good start to implement it in your application.

Re: Read text file from Internet
I'm looking at it, but I get an error when trying to run it on this line:
RV = GetFile(UpdateFile, App.Path & "\versions.dat")
The error reads:
Compile Error: ByRef argument type mismatch
UpdateFile doesn't appear anywhere else in the code...
What am I missing?
Thanks!
