Unable to install OS on HD
i have got a samsung 40 GB Hd anda P-iv processor.
earlier i had 98 n XP installed on it.
due to some reason,i had to re-partition the whole HD.
now ever since i have done that,i m unable to install any OS on it.
when i try to install 98 on it then it goes on til 8% and then reboots.
when i try to installl XP it fails at the first write process.
i thought may be the partiton r not right so i re did the partition using good old fdisk.
there r a total of 8 partitions 3 r NTFS and rest r FAT32.
C drive too is FAT32.
i initially thought that may be my HD MBR is corrupt.
but i put my HD on another PC and voila !!
98 n XP smoothely got installed on it (using the same CD).
but when i tried to put it back on my PC, Win98 (that i installed on another PC) somehow ran but XP crashed giving me the famous BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.
however since XP n 98 got installed on another PC, it means that my HD as such is all right.
but then what could be the problem?
i repeat that when my hd is on my PC then n only then the problem arises.
it is not that my PC is broke.
cos i somehow installed 98 on another PC and put the HD on my Pc and somehow managed to tweak it for my purpose and it now runs smothelly.
any explanations ??
i urgently need XP.
is the MBR corrupt?
