ResultSet Problem

I am new to VB and working in a VB5/Oracle8
project.When I want to insert an record useing result
set (addnew) and if first time user gives the duplicate
key.Oracle gives the error and next time user changes
it and try to insert it gives the error "INVALID RESULTSET
STATE FOR UPDATE"
Please help me..
