forum access and database problems
There seems to be some problems with the forums these days. Lately (in the past few days) I have been given 5-6 times (at least) this message:
There seems to have been a slight problem with the database.
Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.
An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
Also, I sense a decrease in the speed of pages access. Well, I can't quatify how slow the forum pages open, but sometimes, I can't open anything for minutes.
I'm wondering if it's just me or others have experienced similar problems.

Re: forum access and database problems
I agree with Cilu. I have been experiencing the same problem from quite some time now. First I thought that probably something is wrong with my System, but now that Cilu has raised the issue, I am gonna second him.
Sometimes when I open a thread/forum, it doesn't show up anything and then I have to close the browser and open it again.

Re: forum access and database problems
If you get database errors as you've indicated, please post here in feedback and include the specific time.
We are currently looking at all our sites and forums and addressing speed issues. This includes a number of additional servers that have been ordered to help. By reporting these issues, it makes it easier for me to push for additional hardware. In most cases these issues are a direct result of high traffic volumes.

I thought that is done automatically:

To whom are these e-mails sent and what info do they hold? Aren't they suppose to indicate to your technicall stuff what went wrong?

The emails are logged. What the date/time does is it lets *me* know. I can then confirm that the tech guys are really taking care of the issues

I find it funny that the English language is always changing. Back a few years people would have scorned the spelling, "Apologise." Now, it is actually a proper spelling for the real word, "Apologize." Irony.

I've also experienced this problem couple of times. As for time, I've found it primarily in the mid night 1.30 to 2.30am or so (IST). I need to open the page(s) many times, and after trying few minutes it eventually "slowly" opens.

Well, this seems to be out-of-topic, but to clarify: one spelling is British the other one is American. As well as I have to translate "analyser" word in whole my application for US market.

It's been a real pain today. This is what I get when "something" still "works":

Ping statistics for 63.236.73.79:
Packets: Sent = 10, Received = 2, Lost = 8 (80% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms
The are timeframes when I can't open any page for 5-10 minutes.

Thanks for the feedback. I've forwarded it to the sys admins to see if there were issues last night/this morning.

Re: forum access and database problems
Just to chime in ... I had no problems with CodeGuru at all today, but I've had problems with other JupiterMedia sites, where I've received a database error, but was able to refresh a couple times and the issue was gone ...
Apparently either things or fixed, or its a morning thing ...
