    Thumbs up planting saplings

    hi,

i am interested in planting saplings. i have also started to do that. my aim is to plant it in the sides of streets near houses so that the people residing in that house can take care of that and it will be helpful to them. also i am not interested in planting it on the sides of the road because it is not easy to maintain and it is less usefull when compared to planting it near the houses. kindly give your suggestions.

    Hello,

I guess, you should first ask permission of those people residing near the area you're thinking of planting those saplings. That's important. Some might not be interested in taking care of it.. for different reasons (of their own).

    // Just my two cents.

Saplings need a lot of care. If you plant them & they are not protected & taken care of it will be a waste of your time.

what kind of plants are this??

also if your going to plant at the side of the roads, i think your local govt/ or authority should also be aware, or else you might be caught with "illegal planting" . This one is nice, starting with your community might be a good one, organizing your neighborhood with this activity.

i am going to plant neem saplings. because if it grows people can take the seeds and use it for producing organic products which is fast catching up. i thought of doing this in a village and i have chosen a village. people are also happy about it and they are very much interested in getting the sapling. but since they are poor they cant afford to dig, plant and fence it. i have to do that. i spoke with the local authority. they are happy about that.

In that case, it seems like you have done most of the important things to do (except the actual planting) .

I wonder what specific suggestions you are looking for? Is it suggestions for time of planting, style of planting... (i'm just guessing here. )

does being poor have any relation with digging, planting and fencing??
I mean, if you already provide for the sampling then, digging should not be a problem, much of all planting it.

actually i have started planting saplings. i have finished the first batch. for the second batch i have bought 100+ saplings. the reason i am discussing this is that if i discuss i might get some good ideas from intelligent people like you which i might not know. i am a beginner in this. not all people are interested in this idea. i have to convince them.

While your intentions are good... And Neem does make a great "Tree" - note that these tend to grow really very big, and I do hope that they are spaced adequately apart and that the road / area has enough space to allow for huge trees... When they get huge, that is.

It is as sad to see the local authorities cut a tree down for whatever reasons... And I hope you have kept this in mind... Neighbours won't like to see the tree take their window space - for example.

Also planting trees is a responsibility - like pets are. You need to take care of them over a long period of time. If you think you can't - then, don't plant.

Put one only where one can grow, and not cause nuisance to anyone else... If a tree gets chopped, it makes me mad... If a sapling is not taken care of, it...

    Re: planting saplings

anyway i am going to plant it in front of the houses (that is on the sides of the street). hope residents of the house will take care of the saplings. the first batch that i planted was in front of a school. the students of that school are taking care of the saplings properly. was very happy to see that.

as said earlier i am planting neem saplings so that its products (seeds..) can be used to produce organic products in future. if there is some other tree which will be more useful than this, please suggest that to me. also neem saplings need less care compared to other saplings. it is best suited for dry areas and needs less water and grows quickly.
