Re: Life/Religion
A#2:
I think that there is a life after death.
What would it be like? I have no idea.
Where would we be? Not in this universe I guess...
How would we be? I don't know.

Yes, faith is necessary, and I am conscient of that.
IMHO, God existence can't be proved philosophycally or scientifically. So, Human has the freedom to believe or not in God.
I know that many philosophs tried to prove the existence or non-existence of God.
IMHO, it is vain.
However God existence could be potentially proven, if, a day, God came on Earth, and said to everybody : "Hey, I am God, and I exist", and moved mountains and shew is power...
I doubt that such thing occur before the Last Judgment.
But, if God doesn't exist, his non-existence will never ever be proven, because he can't come and say "Hey, I am God, and I don't exist".
So, believing in God non-existence requires faith.
Agnostism doesn't require faith. An agnostic doesn't know if God exists or not...
IMHO having Faith in something is good. And, Human could not undertake anything without at least Faith in himself.
Faith move mountains... It is true. With faith in himself or in the society and other Humans, and bulldozers, a mountain can be moved...
And, the creation of bulldozers required the faith of a lot of people...
Without any Faith, we would probably be in a melancolic state... and die.
Note : An agnostic have no Faith in the question of God's existence, but can (and has, except if he is melancolic) faith in other things.
The human mind has many defensive mechanisms that make him keep faith in himself (and other things)... these defenses can be broken, and psychiatric disease occur..
The following part is very personnal and contains probably many wrong points. It is my mystical experience
About God, I think that many people are mystical.. they feel the presence of God.
But, their feeling is subjective and they create representations of God that differ, and sometimes interpret much their perception.
Particulary, they feel that they hear the voice of God saying how the world is, and what to do (morale).
This feeling is really very vague and subjective (one can feel one unique God, other may feel several Gods).
But, interpretations often go in details.
It creates religions.
I think that Human has the knowledge of good and evil.
So, I think that this module that says to the heart if something is good or bad should be respected before all.
So, if a religion says to do that, and that my heart says that I should not do it... I don't do it. I only think that this religious guideline has been created on false interpretations of mystical feeling.
For example, my heart says to me that I should respect every religion, and respect all mystical perceptions, as far as possible...
Religions, usually, says to love others and to help them.
But, another thing appears...
Some guys, that seek for power, use the religion, and the faith of the good people in that religion, in order to take control of them, and to conquer lands...
They claim that God guides their action, but in fact, these dictators consciently abuse the people and only seek for power.
IMHO, the religion itself is not faulty.
The religion theorically should prevent such thing, because the religion had created a good social order.
But, in fact, this religion can be used as a tool for doing war.
There is an analogy (biological) with the lymphatic system.
The lymphatic system contains ganglions (I am not sure of the English term) that contain immune defense.
This sytem stops infectious germs, most of the time.
It is very good, but if the infectious germ is strong enough, it can beat locally the immune system, and take control of the ganglion.
Then the lymphatic circulation is used by the infectious agent, in order to propagate... The immune system is now a tool for the infectious agent!
IMHO Religion is like that:
Basically, it prevents bad people from taking power, but once someone has taken power, he can use the religion in order to increase significantly his power.
I wait for replies.
I know that what I said is very subjective, and is probably a belief.
