Anonymous Posts - Yes or No

Some idiot has been posting complete rubbish to the board as responses to peoples questions. Not only is this misleading, it's also dragging down the quality of the posts on this board (something I'm not prepared to let happen).

I have the ability to disable Anonymous posts - what does everyone think ?

    Yes, disable them.

Personally i can't find any reason for allowing anonymous posts.

I agree, disable anonymous. Of course some anonymous postings were good, but then, they could easily have signed up and login with a username. (although I love the Anonymous Coward that slashdot uses :-)

sometimes people may feel "silly or stupid" to ask a question, but they must ask never the less to get the info/answer. Just for that case, Anonymous is good. But if it giving problems, like you mentioned, then it may be a good case for scrapping.

Couple of occasions people had problems with loging in....

    Please disable anonymous posts.
I don't see any reason for them.
People can use fantasy names if they are "shy".

I'm for turning Anonymous posting off. It takes no time at all to sign up on the board and allows you to feel like someone will actually get your reply when you reply to a post.

I'm with you too, if they really want to post a message, then there should be no problem spending 1-2 mins on creating new ID for this great forum

I also think that anonmyous posts should not be allowed. It's nothing against them, I like the idea of popping out to ask a question real quick. But most of the time, they probably dont event get our replies, since they can't be notified of them. And that is a waste of board space.
