Problem with NT Shutdown

Hello,
We have VB 4.0 32 bit application (Terminal Emulator Program ) which is functionally OK except for the problem we discovered now. When our application runs, if we try to shutdown NT by clicking start-->shutdown, the application terminates but NT shut down does not happen. We have used MSCOMM & TIMER controls in this application. Does this give any clue ?? We have verified that other VB 4.0 application do not have this problem.
