thanks for any and all help
ps
I read the Tec Note 17 and implement a virtual DestroyWindow but it didn't make a differance

Some code may help to help you.
I don't do it for ratings, but appreciation is always in style.

Rating –3 for just asking you to post some code, so I could help you further?
I think this is neither reasonable nor is polite.

John, you were totally justified in asking for clarification. The negativity you received should not be tolerated. The management of this forum do not manage it as much as they should. I think that many good people have left in frustration and we seem to end up with jerks instead. I think that the management needs to encourage the good people to (more frequently) respond favorably when appropriate. I agree that bagging points is not important; if I wanted to collect points, I could go to the Experts Exchange. Personally, I do not care so much about getting appreciation (but appreciation is appreciated) so much as I want some indication that my help is helping.
Based upon the (lack of positive) feedback I have received, I am not very helpful. It has been a couple of months since I have contributed much. But I notice that there are far too few postings that have positive ratings, which make me wonder why people use it so much.
I am sorry for posting this anonymously, but unfortunately I do not feel safe from the crazy ones, if you know what I mean.

Thanks very much for your support, and I fully understand why is Anonymous.
I have been on this forum long time before rating system, and I took a break for some time just because hostility of some people. Since I’ve visited Forum for many time regardless, and saw people desperate for some help, I’ve decided that my over 10 years experience in Windows programming can help sometimes and I hope it does, since I really take time to be accurate and precise even when I don’t get any ratings. (Funny thing is that I have never posted single question.)
I could not agree more with your statement, that being recognized, and knowing that one’s advice worked, makes one fill good and ready to help more people.
Thank you very much for your support.
