I haven't worked in a cube since 1996, and then only for a few months. Prior to that it had been 1994.

I've had the benefit of telecommuting for the last 8+ years.

A"Cube"???? That would be an upgrade!!!!!!

Unfortunately the above statement is true on a fairly regular basis. There are times when I am at a clients site (on a daily basis, 8+/day, for weeks/months), where I do not even get that.

I work in a sphere. It's got more headroom than a cube.

I do development work wherever I am, via laptop, usually. Otherwise, I'm standing up a good part of the day. I did spend 11 years in a cube, and didn't like them any better. We had some with 4' high walls, with 3' high dividers in groups of 4

Haha .. for me a cube would also be a upgrade. At the office i have to sit at the boardroom desk, As I generally spend most time at the client. At the client i sit in a converted store room(1.5m * 2.2m), It just fits a desk and two chairs. Only benifit i have here is a fitted aircon that opperates only this one office. I have full control on the temp in my office.. But i because of the way the room is done, i have to sit with my back to the window.. Even with the blinds closed i can get some bad glare from it some mornings.

My desk has a high divider at the back (where I pin pictures of my foreign trips and Dilbert cartoons) but the desks are in back-to-back lines with no dividers. I actually like it that way. When I need to ask the other hardware or software guys a question I just have to swivel my chair around. Now if only I could get my mug of Earl Grey delivered to the desk as well I wouldn't have to get up at all.
