Palermo's parties are primarily a chance to do networking with other people. Palermo tends to have these at major Microsoft events such as Tech Ed, PDC, and the MVP Summit (check out the site and you can see). There are generally lots of people standing around chatting while enjoying a drink.
My understanding is that they are not sponsored by the associated event (so Microsoft has nothing to do with the MVP event)

That is my understanding also. However, the parties (at least those I have been to) are sponsored by corporate vendors in the "space". So there can be good vendor contact that is not available within a Microsoft sponsored environment (ie the Summit itself).

Re: 2009 MVP Global Summit
As an FYI - You don't have to be going to the summit to go to a PartyWithPalermo. Anyone can go to those so if you are in the Seattle area, you can RSVP and show up.

Now I've booked my flight with a "little" reserve time то arrive on Friday evening...
So, who plans to be there in Seattle on Friday evening, on Saturday?...
Who plans any activity for this time?
My first try is (would be) attending Flight Museum, but it is just a subject to discuss /change..., in case some alternative variants will or would be suggested.

We are still planning to get together on Wednesday night for dinner. For those of you planning to join us, please drop me a PM. I've been asked to watch my budget, so I'm asking for RSVPs.
Thanks,

I agree that it was great to get to see everyone!
Victor was crazy with his camera, so we'll have to see if we can get his pictures on Flickr or a skydrive where others can get or see them.
