Problem with text fields, address bars etc

I have been having this strange problem for a couple of days When I am using the
internet, dots (or periods) start appearing in an active text field or address bar of the bro.ws.er
like this.:

I would doubt it is a virus. Being a laptop, I would assume that their is a problem with the keyboard. Have you tried using a USB keyboard just to test that possibility out?
