    Smile purchasing vb.net

    Hello:

I am getting into VB.net...but need to purchase a copy of the software first....All of my searches turn up a million links to books, but nothing to the actual Vb.net software. I am hoping to pay between $100 and $250 dollars, not $1000. Are there any good deals?

Any links to actual products that can be purchased (NOT BOOKS) would be appreciated.

You can download Visual Basic Express for free at microsoft. Or if you want a version that offers more features like Standard or Professional does try ****.

I suggested a website that sells goods through auctioning in my earlier post but it was turned into asterisks. Be one with the message. ha ha.

I bought Visual Studio 2008 Standard that came with SQL Server 2008 Developer for $99. I found a similar deal at this link.

I think you misunderstand. Microsoft offers a free version called Microsoft Visual Studio Express. It is 100% legit! Granted, it has some limitations, but if it does what you need, then why spend any money at all?

    Re: purchasing vb.net

I was using Visual Basic Express for a while. But I bought the Standard product because of two limitations of Express. Limitation 1:No support for report writing. No Report Designer of VB included or Crystal Reports type. Limitation 2: The deployment issue. Only click once is available and from my effort with Click once was I couldn't gracefully handle .net 3.5 framework included as part of the installation for machines that may need it like XP. If it turns out that these limitations are false and just me now knowing how to handle Express then oooops! But that's my take.

Click-Once has always worked for me, back in 2005. Of course it wasn't the Express version, but that is no different for that option

Back then when I was wrestling with "Click Once" I would have surrendered and turned to this forum if I knew about this place. And what a nice place it is i may add. But if someone wants to really make me feel like I wasted $99 for nothing all they have to do is make me understand that the report writing support is in Express as well. Say it aint so.

That word is blocked here because it is 99% of the time used to promote illegal stuff.

The best way to know how much a software product costs is to go to places that sell software - there should be places dealing iwth tha in your area.

If there's a list of bad words I'd like to have it.

The "list" is updated all of the time from the spam filtering on the site. A definitive list is thousands upon thousands of words.
